The dialogue is every important this show especially. But the things you can miss as like symbolic motifs, like when Violet runs to “Major Gilbert”, the reality dawns that’s not him and so the shot cuts and pans to “water under the bridge”. Now you can take that however you please but there will be many more scenes like these to come. There’s a lot of emphasis on micro gestures too hinting to hidden emotions and feelings the chat at her have and portray. So enjoy and take it all in, worth a double watch with added comments/commentary too.

Anyone who watched this knows exactly which 2 eps you are referring to. I'd say there is a third that matches.

Alana, just so you know, there is a 34 minutes long OVA that takes place between episode 4 and 5 chronologically. Without seeing it you might get confused coming into episode 5 as there is some context skip. Watching the OVA between the two episodes might be a good idea as it's completely canon and comes naturally into the story. Just a thought! Thank you for covering this magnificent series.

Something you may have not noticed, Violet puts the brooch to her lips and bites it to feel it because her hands are metal so she can’t feel anything. She also did this in ep 1 when Hodgin gave her the puppy plushy, she rubbed it to her cheek and used her lips to feel it.
