UPDATE, 1/26/23

i was just about to record my reaction to episode 5 of BOCCHI, and realized i had already watched it and that reaction is on my corrupted hard drive D: i didn't want to blindside you all when that reaction is posted later today, so i wanted to inform you that i'll be doing a rewatch/analysis reaction for that episode as well. i checked the upcoming episodes and i have not watched those yet, so from episode 6 and onwards it will be a new, first-time reaction.

i am really sorry to have missed this the first time i checked which recordings i had. 

if the data company is able to get my files back, i will be able to post my initial reaction to that episode.

hi everyone, i have been having some PC issues today and i figured out it's due to an issue with my hard drive, the one that has all of my recordings for reactions on it. 

the hard drive is not recognizing itself on my PC or on my laptop, and so i think it's corrupted. i'm going to be taking it to a shop to see if i can recover any files, but as of now, i lost my recordings for:

  • my dress up darling episode 6
  • bocchi the rock episode 4
  • haikyuu season 4 episode 15

i would still like to provide reactions to those episodes for you all, but i think i will be doing a rewatch/analysis reaction of them instead, similar to what i did for an episode of your lie in april, where i pause and talk about some moments in the episode as they happen. this means there will not be timer reactions for those episodes.

i think i'm going to take the rest of the week off from uploading here on patreon so i can work on recording the rewatch reactions (as well as new reactions for the next week), and figure out how to edit the next few weeks of uploads for youtube (and so i can cope with the feeling of losing 1.5 TB of data 🙃)

i'm really really sorry this happened, but i will start uploading again on monday with my rewatch of haikyuu s4 ep15. tuesday will be episode 6 of dress up along with episode 4 of bocchi. 

also, if any of you have any advice on how to possibly get my files back, feel free to share in the comments (it's a Seagate 2TB One Touch Slim Portable Hard Drive). any help is appreciated.

Buy SSD instead of hard drive, ssd has more advantages like faster in booting and also copy&amp;paste way more faster than hard drive, and also longer life than hdd

Stellar makes an affordable data recovery software. I have used some of their products to recover data from a dead drive and to repair corrupted files. I believe they have a free utility that will scan the drive and let you know if anything is recoverable. Then you can buy a license to recover data. This is NOT a fast solution. It could take a day or more to scan the drive. But it could be worthwhile. Let me know if you need any assistance.

Had similar issues with one of my hard drives once, sometimes my PC would recognise it if I did a safe mode restart, but it was pretty inconsistent. As someone else has pointed out you could change the cable connected to the hard drive (if you just swap in the cable of another one of your hard drives then you could figure out if that's the issue). Could also try plugging the cable into a different SATA port in the motherboard. If neither of those work though it's likely an issue with the hard drive, really sorry to hear about that! praying the bocchi and dress up darling eps can be recovered

If it's any solace, this made me check the health of my SSDs and I found out one that I've already had replaced once just started failing. Some stuff was already corrupted but you inadvertently saved me some heartache.

No problems. But if it may be possible, tell us if you manage to recover any file safely. I hope you can. But at any rate, I hope everything goes ok with you overall.

In the future it might be worth investing in a NAS (Network Attached Storage). A separate computer you can slap multiple redundant drives in that will back up your footage so even if one drive fails you won't lose anything. Then if you set it up that you can remote into your network you could conceivably edit your footage from anywhere on a laptop without having to bring an external drive with you.

I would try using a different cord for the hard drive, just in case you lucked out and it's just the cord going bad. Otherwise I would look into data recovery services near you to see if they can recover the data.

Hope you aren't stressing too much. It's possible you have a damaged connector or a bad cable, which would be much better than a corrupted hard drive. You always put out the best content, it's worth the wait.

I remember having a 2tb Seagate….lost a lot of data. Geek Squad rates were waaaaay too high for only the chance of recovering the data
