Ah yes another fun episode with a heavy ending. Loved this more slice-of-life part of the episode. Also that moment when Maomao was trying to avoid being dressed up with her hands up and all reminded me so much of Bocchi lol

I think this is the episode that really drives home why Maomao isn't swayed by Jinshi's beauty: Maomao grew up surrounded by beauty, has seen what the pursuit of beauty can lead to, and how society treats beautiful people for good and for ill. This was hinted at back when Concubine Lihua was dying of the white beauty powder, but the dark side of the pleasure district taught Maomao all she needed to know about human nature when it comes to being beautiful. Also, given that Maomao worked with and observed the best courtesans in the best brothel, Jinshi's seduction techniques probably seem like amateur hour in comparison and his success relies almost entirely on his heavenly looks. Another great reaction! Can't wait for the next one!
