Good question about how isekais work! To answer it yeah no going back home isn’t a thing at all! Most isekais are supposed to feed into a escapist fantasy. Like subaru most isekais are losers who are transported to another world to “start over” and they just simply stop being losers (typically becoming Mary sues) so things mostly go pretty smoothly. That’s where Re zero subverts that expectation laid out by most isekais as you’ve seen. It shows you the brutal reality of how difficult things would be so it’s kinda a criticism of the isekai fandom that subaru represents. He was expecting to already just have strong magic powers or a legendary weapon right off the bat. He was so excited and didn’t even care he left his world but reality is finally hitting him. So yeah welcome to the roller coaster that is Re zero! Lol

Did Crunchyroll just switch to the director's cut version? Makes it more difficult to sync, it wasnt like that few days ago. Also be careful with episode numbers. This episode is now ep4, so you have to watch 5 next (unless you are watching somewhere else or this change was only in my country??)

yeah, it seems like the normal episodes got removed and only the directors cut is still up. I couldn't find it even when switching countries with vpn.

Yeah, it's gone. For some reason, the director's cut goes out of sync even after even syncing up the beginning with the reaction. Is this happening to anyone else? Might just be a connectivity issue on my part.

Yeah, Crunchyroll axed everything but the directors cut for season 1. I prefer the directors cut but it makes timer reactions almost impossible until Alana switches over to the directors cut which is gonna be super awkward for her to figure out I imagine. Damn shame and some piss poor timing on crunchyroll's part.

I love th eshow so I don't mind buying the episodes on Prime Video. So that is an option for those who don't mind going that route. $2.99/HD Episode and $1.99/SD Episode.

Yes i noticed this too, apparently there are a few minor editing changes, like some shots being slightly longer or shorter, which causes the reaction to go out of sync.

Happened to me as well. Now suddenly the episodes are twice as long. Alana's ep 6 and 7 correspond to just episode 4 on Crunchyroll now.

TBH, this was where I almost stopped watching and waiting for Subaru to start being proactive (and actually effective at it) about his situation. I'm glad I stuck with it because the next couple episodes really redeemed him in my mind.
