I had never seen these lives and am really glad i got the chance to watch them from your reactions! I do believe that chan is a better person than most, simply because he tries harder. Do i think he is perfect? Not at all. I have enough gamer workaholic guy friends here in australia to guess what he can be like behind the scenes. But honestly, knowing that he is human and has those flaws makes him more special to me. Because I know how hard it is for me to be the bigger person, and Chan CONSISTENTLY chooses to be that even when he doesn't have to. That is what genuinely makes me like him. And I think his actions set an example for the rest of the group. They all try very hard to be the better person.

It's always great to see Chan actively promoting not being toxic to other artists and fandoms. It's something that definitely makes him stand out and makes me respect him a lot. Stay's and Army's are being toxic? Chan plays a BTS song on vlive and talks about how much he respects them and then goes out to lunch with Jungkook. Stay's and Blink's being toxic? He jams out to Blackpink's music on vlive and shows off the hoodie that Lisa gave him for his birthday. Stay's and Engene's being toxic? He plays Enhypen's songs on vlive and then hangs out with Jake for the holidays. Stay's and Atiny's being toxic? He GUSHES about Ateez on vlive talking about how much he likes them all. He leads by example and I think that's one of his best qualities as a leader. Like you've said, of course its impossible to really know 100% if someone is being genuine, especially when you don't know them personally off camera. I'm sure Chan is not the exact same person on vs. off camera. No one is. I'm sure he has his own thoughts and opinions on things that aren't necessarily positive. Saying everyone in the industry is a team may be a slightly rose-colored statement, and i'm sure he doesn't feel that way towards everyone in the industry. But regardless of what a person's internal thoughts and feelings are, I think actions say a lot more about a person's character. Regardless of his thoughts, he always seems to make a real effort to talk about and treat everyone with respect and kindness. I remember in SKZ's endingments for the Sydney concert Felix was talking about how much Chan has taught him. Felix mentions not only Chan teaching him about the industry and music, but he also mentions Chan teaching him a lot about integrity and the difference between right and wrong. I think that's pretty damn cool. Side note: as a fan I really try to never put any of these guys on any sort of pedestal, morally or otherwise. They're just human beings, with shortcomings and mistakes and flaws just like everyone else. So when I talk about respecting Chan for the example he sets, that's really all it is. I guess I just feel like I should mention that since i'm gushing quite a bit here, lol. Lots of people have a tendency to talk about celebrities they like as though they're perfect people and that's not how I see it at all. I just find myself talking about having respect for his character because I really do think he sort of stands out in what's typically a pretty toxic industry.

I knew that Chan addressed it, but I hadn't realized that any toxicity in the fandom was met with him openly supporting the other group. That's awesome. A real-life example of everybody getting along. Living what he preaches. That's good to see. I agree that none of these guys should be put on a pedestal. And they don't want to be. There's a big difference, though, between saying you really respect and admire living by the creed you endorse... and espousing that Chan is a flawless example of how to live, or at least close to it. As you say, we ALL have our flaws and struggles. The thing is striving to be a better person than your bad temptations urge you to be.

I totally forgot about these lives even though i watched them live, but i'm glad i saw them again with you. I find these things interesting from the perspective of fans as well. I think in many ways Kingdom was an important experience for the fandom and gave stays confidence too. I joined in early 2020 and from what i heard 2019 was a really hard year for stays, not just because of woojin leaving, but other things and constant hate the group was getting. 2020 was better with god's menu and then back door, where they finally managed to get a music show win, but the fandom still wasn't as big back then so everyone dreaded kingdom, especially with mnet's reputation of weird editing and trying to make people look bad. Then kingdom finally started, introduction stage aired and everyone was trying to be positive but literally hours later rumors about Hyunjin started appearing and he went on hiatus a few days later. I can't imagine how hard that was on the group and i'm sure they were once again scared of people leaving and maybe not suporting them as much because of that whole situation but honestly i don't think stays ever worked harder than back then. I don't really want to get into the whole Hyunjin situation and i do agree with what Brenna mentioned in one of the comments but regardless of what the situation really was the timing of those rumors was really weird. I think that had an opposite effect on stay from what people maybe expected and Hyunjin not being there became an even bigger motivation, i remember so many people who never participated in any voting or anything like that before asking how to help and where to vote. I still see people using kingdom as an example of how the fandom can work hard and be united when some big award show or something along those lines where fans can vote is happening. 😁 It might sound strange to someone from the outside but I think Kingdom really did strengthen the skz-stay relationship and gave everyone involved confidence. This was a long rant no one asked for but it's really interesting to me watching the relationship these kpop groups have with their fans and how it changes over time, it's not anything new that didn't exist with celebrities before but the competitive nature of the kpop industry and the way idols interact with fans does give it a different dimension.

Yeah, this time must have been so hard for them. With so much uncertainty. Very cool that Stay rallied around them and gave them such great support. Really loans credence to SKZ saying how they were more confident in Stray Kids at this point. They were probably very uncertain about their future at this point.
