The thing Lee Know ate and made the really bad face at was umeboshi - pickled plum. Its SUPER sour and strong in flavour. Its nice as a sort of... flavour added to stuff, but to just eat it itself is a bit much. The food they were saying is nice because it has protein was natto - fermented soybeans. It doesnt taste bad but its hard to get past the super strong smell and the texture of it... its beans in slime. It looks like larvae lol. The place they were staying was a ryokan - traditional japanese style hotel, which means there is usually an onsen (hot spring) and you have futons instead of beds. You get a room with the tatami floor (straw mat floor) and a small table for sitting at and then you just lay out the futon on the floor wherever you want when you go to use it. I've only stayed at a couple of ryokans but they are always so nice! Its really relaxing and the food is always good because you get basically the japanese equivalent of an "english breakfast" with rice and miso soup and a bunch of various vegetable and fish dishes and its delicious!

i am the same as you im so used to shirtless people cause i live in Corpus Christi which is a beach town and not only that i have 5 brothers and they were all in sports so shirtless men is a everyday to me.
