A better translation for Seungmin's "bland" voice would be clean. You nailed the stone egg metaphor, it basically just means traditional, classic, simple etc. Mujin is complimenting Seungmin here, but also asking how Seungmin manages to pull of the "Stray Kids" sound with this type of voice.

This is one of my favourite videos with Seungmin. You can just see how much he enjoys singing this type of song. We've seen and heard him rap and sing the hard hitting Skz songs and there's no denying he enjoys that (he's even joked about wanting to be on the rap unit for a future unit rap), but this is something he doesn't often get to do with Skz. And he loves it. Mujin is right though, it's a very different style and he has to use his voice differently. So it's another thing that shows just how hard Seungmin works on his craft. He has a great vocal trainer too, that's clear. What I also love about listening to this, is that we hear his "open" sound here. We often hear his more nasal sound, or airy nasal sound, but this is a full, open sound, using all the cavities in the skull to really produce it. And it's gorgeous. In the latest Chan's Room, Chan let us listen to a tiny clip from a cover he did (gorgeous btw, but no surprise there, even though he himself wasn't satisfied) and he talked about how he has the JYPE airy sound, meaning a lot of air mixed in the sound. But that through Seungmin he has now learned more techniques and how to produce another sound as well. The result was beautiful. So Seungmin is even helping others in the group too!

Awesome that SKZ is constantly not only learning from teachers and mentors, but that they are teaching and learning from one another. That's a true team.
