I love just how much of the production we got to see in this behind the scenes! we get to see some clips here and there, but this was one of the longest looks we get into their process. Also, I never realised IN was on a stool when singing his part. And while the criticism he received was that he wasnt stable, it still fit the emotion of the song. So unless you knew what it was supposed to sound like, as the audience we never would have known. To me it still sounded amazing. But i guess thats why i'm not an industry professional lol

Yeah, I wouldn't have been able to hear that I.N's vocalization wasn't what was supposed to be there. But like you say, we're not in the industry. Impressive how fine-tuned ears can get when you know what to listen for.

Something i just wanna take moment to appreciate here is I.N....I know you haven't posted the 4th part to episode 5 yet, but you mentioned their score so i assume you've already filmed it lol. As we see, I.N. gets pretty upset with himself and how his vocals turned out in the live performance. And I wont lie, they weren't his best. It's a very difficult song even for the most skilled vocalists, and I.N. is still growing in his vocal ability. After watching that episode i remember thinking, "Dang, i feel like they shot them selves in the foot a little bit with the song choice, especially since I.N. struggles with this kind of vocalization." But man, my opinion on his vocal ability changed so much after seeing this behind the scenes video. In this video you see him carrying around that little stool saying it's "his stool". I didn't realize until the run-through at the end that he literally meant it was one of his props. When the camera cuts from Changbin falling to I.N. singing, I thought for a second that he was just lying down. And then i realized he wasn't, he had the stool under his lower back and was balancing in MIDAIR. They were trying to achieve some sort of floating or falling effect i guess, but that means that he to hold a plank and belt out those vocals. Like just think about that for a sec, think about having to completely tense not only your abs, but your neck as well, and try to sing steadily. I was so stunned after seeing this practice, because in the final performance you really can't tell that that's what he's doing since the lighting is so dramatic and dim. For him to have put SO much effort into pulling off those vocals while having to keep his whole body completely tensed, and then for the effect to not even be noticeable in the final performance must be so frustrating and it truly does him such a disservice. Because it just looks like he just has unsteady vocals even while just lying down, when thats not the case. Anyhow, sorry for the rant, lol. I just really wanted to point it out because this has been the biggest thing that has given me an appreciation for his sheer effort and vocal ability.

Yeah, I've already recorded the final part of the episode. I don't think I.N gets enough credit for his vocals. His voice has really grown on me, and he's obviously a very hard worker.

Thanks so much for pointing that out!! So many people don't get how incredibly difficult it is simply to sing like that while lying down...let alone while lying on a stool like that, having to hold yourself up...planking! I.N. really was (and purposely use past tense here) very a very underrated vocalist.

Love the behind the scenes stuff. Love seeing 3Racha at work in the studio and the dance practices. And yes, many many many hours go into a performance like that. And they only had 2 weeks. It feels crazy. It makes perfect sense to me that Seungmin practiced that difficult vocal part with headset and sitting on his knees, flower in front of him to pick up. Reaching forward to pick up the flower whilst singing, standing up whilst singing, all those movements have an affect on the voice if you don't work on that. And having to do that with a headset on adds to that. So yes, makes sense. Han leaning with his back against the wall while squatting is actually a vocal training technique. I've had to do it many times and it works like a charm. Hahahaha you were going to have spicy noodles for lunch after this. This was recorded months ago, but since Chan's Room a few weeks ago the mere mention of spicy noodles makes me laugh. I guess you can handle them better than he can hehe.

I know right! I'm so proud of how far his singing has come, the first time I listened to Waiting For Us I straight up teared up when I heard his vocals. He's such a testament to the idea that putting in the work and practice to improve a skill is often times more important than whatever level of talent you're "born with". He should be so proud of himself for the I'll Be Your Man performance. The fact that you can't tell he's doing a plank is both a shame but also crazy impressive. Impressive that he was as good as he was, and a damn shame that you couldn't see the effect they were going for. I hope the other competitors and judges were aware of it somehow.

Side note: the first time I watched this behind video and realized I.N. was singing while in a plank I was so astounded that I had to get up, get a chair, and try it myself to see how hard it was. Let's just say I sounded like a cat dying.
