My biggest issue with Ikon in the whole of kingdom, is that they constantly gave me the feel that they didnt really want to be there for the competition. Like, i get that Bobby was excited to be there and have fun on stage, but it really rubbed me the wrong way when he would not even lipsync to the backing track and just "had fun". It felt, disrespectful? to me in the way that it diminished everyone elses efforts. Everyone else was there and giving it their all, and it just didnt feel like ikon were putting in that same effort. And i wonder if that was the case, or if MNET edited the show that way intentionally (because mnet really seem to harshly favour different groups and labels)

K-pop Auntie

Yeah, you never really know how things are edited. And even then, I can see it being had to find the kind of balance that SKZ seems to have found with having fun and getting down to business.

It's tough. I really liked Ikon. As in, I liked their personalities. I'd never heard of them before I watched this, but I thought they were really nice. And I love how they actually made friends in the industry on this show. I just liked the guys. And some of their performances I liked, but others....like this one...I mean, it was good and you can see they're skilled, but it didn't have the impact that the other two (and the others in episode 5) had on me. There was a lot going on in the background with the images, but it didn't feel like they were telling the story themselves. Not sure if I'm saying this right or clearly. And I guess for me that's also related to what Chan said right before the performance: in Inception a lot happens visually, can they pull that off on stage. That would be crazy. I think they did well, but they didn't pull off that off quite as you'd expect from Inception. And as you say, it relied heavily on knowing the movie. But it was great to see them having fun with it. And frankly, with the talent in all these groups....it's just nitpicking anyway. Because they're all great!!

K-pop Auntie

You're right, it feels like nitpicking, but that's because the incredibly high quality of some of these performances. The expectations go through the roof.
