Translators are so underrated. I see a lot of comments on content complaining about the lack of subtitles, but hardly any thank you to those that eventually do translate the videos for us who don't speak Korean. To a certain extend I can understand the criticism when it comes to official prerecorded videos, because if it's recorded months ahead of release, there's time for subtitles. But I see so many complains on the vlives these idols do too and what do we expect? We're watching Korean people going live to talk to fans. They'll mostly speak their own language. and I'm amazed at how quickly the subtitles, at least with Stray Kids, are up on vlive. Usually within 48 hours. I know how much time that takes. And yeah, what you said about taking criticism when you're putting out something creative that you put your heart and soul in...that resonates with me. It IS hard to take criticism on that well. I'm really impressed with how these guys handle setbacks. But looking at the trainee process I shouldn't be surprised.

The trainee process must be so brutal. Especially with most of the trainees being in their teens still and going to school on top of it. To a certain extent, I'm sure they have to grow a thick skin or quit. And I agree on the translations. I feel like those who criticize have never had to parse verbs or translate anything that isn't a question like 'where is the bathroom'. Translations are hard. Especially when it comes to anything literary or lyrical or even puns and jokes, decisions have to be made about how closely to keep the translation to what the person actually said, and how much to interpret what they said so someone from another country and/or culture actually understands the intent of their words.
