I'm sure you know by now that the older audience members were a number of the members parents. It would have been nice if they had mentioned it in the show but people learned about it later. Its so special that they got to BE THERE and support their children as they officially became scheduled to debut. The first time i heard JYP's dog speech he really threw me for a loop. Man just suddenly went off talking about how he raises dogs and i was like... um okay? and what does that have to do with ANY of this lol. Like it eventually made sense, but jeez i really was looking at him like a lunatic for a while there.

It is really cool that their parents were there from the beginning. That must have been so nerve wracking for them as well. Seeing your kids criticized and their dreams on the line in front of a live audience. Geez.

I think the reality show that put Twice together was similar in terms of eliminations and 'shock factor'. I haven't watched it myself but if I recall, there were 16 girls participating and they whittled it down to 7 in the final line-up and then at the last minute, JYP himself suddenly added two of the eliminated girls into the group. I think he just likes to do whatever he wants in these shows lol

K-pop Auntie

OK, so they do have actual eliminations sometimes. That makes it more tense. And I guess when you found your own company and run it, you can do whatever the heck you want. LOL.

Yeah, I agree. I think JYPE's most recent survival show had actual eliminations too, so I'm glad SKZ managed to escape that because I couldn't imagine the group not being what they are now 😂

Also, (I'll comment even though this is old now oops) I think some of the older people in the audience were actually their parents, which is why they kept showing them with signs corresponding to their kid, crying when they were accepted into the group :')

I thought those were parents too. And I thought that was just so lovely. Especially with Felix' parents who would have flown over for this.

I really can't watch this without watching it till the end. It's too painful otherwise. I have to see the happy ending. Doesn't matter that I already know it. I really hate reality shows like this. They draw you in, work the drama. Ugh. And I groan at all the drawn out moments too, and the perfectly timed commercial breaks. Yuck. But I agree with you: it's so helpful to see in order to see where they came from. The background. The journey. And to see where they're now. How far they've come. They'll go far. Really far. Thanks for allowing me to experience this again through your eyes. It was wonderful to see it through the eyes of someone who didn't know how it exactly played out. THat made it more special.

It was a ride, that's for sure. Reality shows really do draw the drama out. I used to watch some US reality back when TV actually was televised broadcasts with commercials. All I have now are streaming services. Those commercial breaks were leveraged to the max.

I genuinely dont like survival shows and i especially dont like re-watching them but Stray Kids survival show is an exception. Yes, its hard to watch and very painful but maybe because compared to other survival shows where trainees compete with each other, Stray Kids show was more about debuting as a 9 no matter so it felt more heartwarming....like the feeling of them being united...? Instead of competing with each other and seeing each other as rivals, they had a common enemy (poor JYP hahah) so its actually enjoyable to watch...eventhough i lost tons of hydration while watching it ahaahh Btw, interesting fact, 2PM's survival show was the most unique one in the history of Kpop. It actually looked like a military program. There wasnt much singing, dancing and rapping but tons of exercising ahahhha But, thanks to that program, we had vocal legends 2AM and their brother group 2PM, who actually tore S.K that time with their unique stage presence and manliness(2PM are considered the first beastly-idols meaning they're the one who popularized ripping shirts on during performance, showcasing abs and etc ahahha) I genuinely dont think JYP himself knew he would actually debut Lee Know and Felix with the rest at the end. I think he might've decided to debut them when he asked Minho and Bokkie to return but not in the beginning for sure. Judging by other survival shows (including JYPe's where he eliminated trainees who were super popular among the audience), he definitely could've eliminated them Interesting fact: in MonstaX's survival show, there was a trainee called #Gun who had soooo much screen time and he also improved his skills, very much during the show, got tons of compliments. He was even constantly getting one of the top spots in every round but got eliminated at the end when everyone was sure he would make it to the team

K-pop Auntie

I hadn't known until recently that MonstaX was formed on a survival show. I'm going to have to go back and watch that...

thats really one of the worst survival shows in the history of kpop. They really made them all go through hell. And the producers especially made I.M dirty. Poor guy. I will never rewatch that hell ahhahah So you're on your own on that journey hahahhaahhha
