Okay to clear that last moment it wasn’t serious .. it was han’s birthday and they were pranking him right after chan said that he walked out of the room and brought a cake lol but the producers edited that clip out to make more drama 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Hello, I just tried to watch this reaction and it says the video doesn't exist.

K-pop Auntie

Thank you. I tried organizing some things on my streaming services and looks like I managed to delete them instead. Looks like I have more re-downloading in store for me today.

Typical to edit it so that it's more dramatic. It is a reality show, after all. And I can't help finding the whole making-a-MV-before-the-show-thing a little suspicious. I mean, making an MV is not a cheap thing. Why make an MV with 9 members when you're not sure all 9 will debut? Unless you're just planning to mess with them constantly, in order to draw in the fans, create drama around them making people like them even more, get the numbers up etc.....but had always planned on having all of them debut? And that would make what happens later on really really cruel. I really don't want to think that, especially because Skz themselves think so highly of JYP and the whole company. But I really can't shake that feeling. Okay....said it. And posted it.

K-pop Auntie

Yeah, making a pre-debut MV with 9 and then not debuting them all would kind of be like shooting yourself in the foot.

I definitely see what you mean Katja, i've had the same thoughts. I also would like to think that JYP wouldn't put them through that kind of heartbreak for the sake of drama. The company JYPE isn't perfect by any means and JYP himself isn't either, but he's one of the few company leaders that's given me reasons to respect him. I think when you really get to a point of caring about the members of a group it can be kind of easy to criticize the company's treatment of them. But at the end of the day, it is a business I suppose. Their priorities will be that of a business and it would be odd to expect anything else. In their defense however, I think there's definitely a possibility that the elimination wasn't for the sake of drama. For one, I think a fair few of JYP's criticisms were reasonable. Felix's poor Korean would have been a legitimate issue if he hadn't applied himself to studying so much. Minho definitely lacked confidence, Jeongin lacked experience and age. I think if things had gone a little differently, if they hadn't show last minute signs of improvement, it wouldn't have been unfair to say they needed more training before debut. Second of all, I've seen other survival shows where even though they really let you get attached to all the members, even though there's already predebut fan favorites, even though they film so much content with all the potential members, they STILL eliminate some quite surprising choices. Perhaps their thinking behind filming an MV before all members were confirmed was because of the assumption that even if they were eliminated, they would still get recognition and an extra boost of fans/popularity once they debuted with another group later on. Still beneficial for them. I'm not sure how familiar you are with ENHYPEN but they were formed through a survival show called I-LAND. There were VERY popular contestants that made it all the way through till the very last episode and then were eliminated in the end. Fans were in an uproar. But those boys who were eliminated still massively benefited from the show once it actually came time for them to debut in a different group a couple years later. I don't know, i'm just sort of rambling about stuff now, LOL. This is just my personal theories! :)

K-pop Auntie

I definitely see both sides of it. Like you said, JYPe is a a business, and when you produce a reality elimination show, you need the drama to keep people hooked, and if you never eliminate anyone, there would be no tension. And also like you said, it's not everyone was perfect before debut. There were legitimate issues. Either way, glad they all got to debut.

Katja van den Berg

Same. I work with amateurs in the theatre world and that's a little different, but I still have to make hard decisions sometimes. For the better of the show. Which sucks. But it has to be done. I can't let the show suffer (and with that everyone else in it) just because I feel sorry for someone or like someone. I do always try to be nice about it. Still doesn't mean feelings won't get hurt. JYPE had to make decisions for the group's future. I think he could have done and said things a little differently, in a more constructive way, but I see exactly why certain members were at risk of elimination ...and Felix and Minho eventually eliminated. It's just that...that MV...maybe you're right, Brenna, but those things cost a lot of money. It still doesn't make complete sense, even with that explanation. Anyway, yes...so so glad they got to debut together. I can't imagine Skz without Felix or Lee Know. GOodness. And now they're heading for the top!

Its so fun getting to see these silly parts of the guys daily lives where they just get to have fun and bond. I love seeing how both minho and changbin gave felix a sort of tough love in regards to his korean as well. You can see that they are both really patient and explain things to him if he doesnt understand, but they also push him out of his comfort zone, like making him order the chicken on his own, rather than just doing things for him. I think the team in general is a really big part of why his korean improved as rapidly as it did.

K-pop Auntie

I think you're right. Immersion is a great way, possibly the best, to learn a language, and Felix seems to have been surrounded by a great group of teachers
