I am the exact opposite of them in some ways. I've never understood why older people deserve more respect than young people. I'll also be friends with people of any age. I haven't had friends my own age in decades. When I was in my late 30s - I had a lot of close friends who were grandmothers and great-grandmothers. At the same time - I remember one day my brother coming to me with a perplexed look on his face. He said there were two little girls at the door who asked if I could come out and play. The three elementary school kids who lived on either side of me were also my friends. They were very cool kids. This is a big reason romances aren't my jam. I've never been into the rugged "manly" men. I was always more drawn to a man in a tux. Quick witted and elegant over brawny lumberjack. If you ever come across a book with Groucho Marx/Abbott & Costello level witty repartee, give me a heads up will ya lol

I guess romance has less to do with rugged masculinity and more to do with a very capable man who can be dangerous when provoked to defend. Which is very much the James Bond sort in a tux, being all witty and sophisticated. But yeah, I actually don't like romances in general lol.
