Helga Vanilla is the Maitriarch of the Hunters of the Old Blood. These hunters operate in the Forever Forest of the Enyala Isles, hunting hideous monsters that threaten the forest, the isles, and Harmonia as a whole. These Hunters have come to refer to Helga Vanilla as their mother, for her guidance and nurturing spirit.

However, there are only three women who Helga considers to be her true children.

Bell Biscotti's youthful demeanor and beautiful dancing is healing to Helga in times of darkness. She is the most recently adopted, and the middle child of this found family. She originally hails from the tropical peninsula of Almah, but a luxury cruise gone wrong was what landed her in Enyala.

Fabiana Faye is strong-willed and loving despite hailing from the frozen nation of Dvar, and the eldest of the three sisters. She too was shipwrecked and given a home by Helga, whose matronly nature shaped the woman she would eventually become. While Fabiana's choice to become the escort known as Karma originally gave Helga much pause, due to the Hunters' belief that sex and love are to be given freely, they eventually settled their differences.

Dio Leila is Helga's daughter from her first and only marriage to one Barbara Leila. Helga had never intended to marry or have children, but the winds took her in a different direction, leading her to fall in love with an incredible Hunter and become a stepmother to that Hunter's daughter. When those winds took Barbara into the next life, Helga vowed to take good care of Dio.

Fate brought this family together. Their bond defies bloodline, and they serve as inspiration to the Hunters day by day as they keep Enyala safe.
