Loyalty Token Preview: Skeleton Dragon (Patreon)

Because they're on a monthly schedule, they don't compete with the weekly slot. This means that these Loyalty Tokens will always be bigger releases with loads of animations and multipage PDFs filled with lair actions,  encounter mechanics, customization tables, lore, magic items,  subclasses, backgrounds and the works!

A dragon’s might appears to be limited only by the constraints of a physical form, forcing it to obey the laws of mortality, as they already ignore those of physics, displaying this particular brand of hybris everytime they take flight. Imagine now this creature no longer bound to a mortal shell, instead transcending the border between life and death to become something even greater, something even more terrifying. Wreathed in night-coloured soulfire and with a malign spark lightning up its empty eye sockets, a Skeleton Dragon is a draconic nightmare given form, its mere presence draining colour from life and hope from the heart of mortal folk.

This is part of the dragon's main gimmick, its hope-eroding aura cutting away at its enemies' confidence until the will to fight leaves them - or until they decide to give it their all and cut through the curtain of tears, becoming inspired instead of despaired.

What this exactly entails is still shrouded in mystery, but it will have both mechanical, as well as narrative, impact on the fight!
In addition, Aura of Despair directly interacts with the Skeleton Dragon's other main draw, Devourer of Hope!

These are the main passive ability employed by the Dragon, while we made sure that it  plays like a classical Dragon otherwise, employing its talons, tail, bite and a unique breath weapon.

There are also legendary actions and customization table allowing you to choose the dragon's cause of undeath, which is a fun little read and comes with extra abilities:

But of course that's not all. In addition to the Skeleton Dragon you'll find a full page of spells and several magic items inspired by the Dragon itself, so that if your players actually manage to claim victory over the Bringer of Despair, it will feel worth it!

Spells like Haunt, Bloodfreeze or Devour Hope can be found within the confines of the pdf and will soon be available as Spell Cards as well!
