Greetings everyone!

Artwork for The Company has been in development for just over a year now, and in that time I've been getting feedback from all directions. Feedback is great! I love feedback! Unfortunately, feedback can be a little hard to parse sometimes, and incorrectly evaluating feedback can be just as harmful as ignoring it completely.

At this point, I've decided to finally collect some useful and concise feedback on the current state of the artwork being developed for The Company. The poll is more complex than I can post here, so I ask you take a few minutes to direct your attention...

HERE

The information gathered from this poll will taken into consideration while we move forward through the next year, so I urge everyone to complete the above questionnaire and get their voices heard.

Thank you all!

I really enjoy the art style, particularly the paint smear shading style, though I definitely think it could be cleaner, line art especially. One other thing, I wouldn't really call any of the girls not skinny. Just thought I'd put this in comment form :P

Angelynk

I think the best thing you could do is to animate the artwork!

I feel like where I'm at isn't really able to be conveyed by the poll, which is that I specifically like the real GIFs and I appreciate that you're maintaining that as an option, but if you're going to do artwork (and you've made a completely convincing case for it being necessary, to be clear) I like the art you've picked out. I'm just super glad it's not going to be another 3d Daz game. I also hope you don't get into animation, just because I've found the resources and commitment animation takes vs. the enjoyment isn't worthwhile.

I like the art style and the artist, it's just a shame that modular characters weren't an option (like a way better looking degrees of lewdity). Honestly the very best option would be deepfaking the gifs but that's nowhere near an option.

HaikenEdge

While I support the project, I don't like the style of the art. It looks very dated, like something I'd see back in the early aughts on a DeviantArt page.

Tommi

I mean I definitely love the fact that it's 2d instead of those uncanny 3d renders that seem to be so popular. I love the default girl sucking ts sample, but some of the faces and general designs seem to be messy and kind of unsexy.

The 2017 outfit question was the hardest question on the poll thing because I don't know a thing about fashion, All I do is buy cloths that are comfortable and affordable to wear.

I like the characters in idle fashion but not a big fan of the sex scene that was shown. It does look quite dated and rough. I feel as though The Company had the advantage of being a cheaper to make game with the gifs and although there are issues with using those I see adding high quality art to those project will be a massive undertaking I'm not sure the project could reasonably handle. It needs significant improvements in how clean the line work is, backgrounds need to be drawn as to not make the characters stand out, and sex scenes will need to be animated to some degree.

HelloGoodbye

I'm sorta okay with the art for mostly 'practical' reasons. I can't say it looks amazing but it is serviceable. More than anything else, I appreciate the time put into it a lot more than the art itself. It's hard to find an artist who is willing to work at a decent pace and is reasonably consistent in terms of quality. Sure, it's not exactly my thing but it is good to see the project progress like this. A new artist might be good should you decide on a new project in the distant future.

I like the real actors the most; I think the current art is okay. I don't have a problem with it. I think "Good Girl Gone Bad" looks better, more my type of artwork, but the current artwork really isn't bad. I selected "it's okay." I appreciate the level of work that goes into creating the artwork, not to mention managing the project as a whole.

Art style is fine, just overall could be cleaner. The eyes most of all. They lack any kind of clarity and you lose them pretty easily in the art currently. Also the PC's expression seems pretty dead, no personality at all. I get that it's important to stay neutral so the player can identify more, but at the current state they're too blank of a slate. The PC has an attitude conveyed when he talks with others, bring some of that in. Cleaner lines and stuff would be nice too, but due to the amount of characters/scenes that need to be done, I'm willing to give that a pass. It's too much work for any one person to do at super high quality. I'd focus on getting more content in, then cleaning up what's there. It's easier to have something and improve, than not have anything at all. I'm also in the camp of too many curvy characters. Don't get me wrong, I like girls of all sizes/shapes, but Dakota is pretty much the only one with a tighter body than most of the characters. Hell the PC is a bit too curvy for my taste too. Having some sort of variable that controls how curvy the PC is might be something to think about. Either by going to the gym, or something else.

I'll touch on the PC expressions real quick, because I thought I'd previewed this already but may actually not have! So all the characters have a full expression set that can be changed on the fly in conversations. Since the current state of the game doesn't make use of this yet, all you see is the default expression. There are more, though! Thanks for the rest of your comment!

I selected in the poll that I don't like player’s design and I think I need to explain why. The main reason that the male player's body does not become more feminine after he transformed into a woman. I understand that this is due to the paper doll system, but for the main character one could take into account the changes in body shape. If there are too many possible combinations between body shapes and clothes then could be implemented system of clothes sizes or any other type of restriction.

Since there was a lack of a notes section in the poll, I wanted to point out that from the art I've seen, even the slim or "average" build characters seem to be rather "thic" from the waist down. It works for certain characters, but not everyone should be thunder-thigh-rific, dominant or not. Part of this could also be the corruption of having mental pictures for each character based on the live actresses used to date. That said I like the style and detail, could just go for some more proportionate body builds is all. Keep up all the amazing work!

I'm going to echo it, the female characters body shapes just aren't... feminine? Especially the PC. Most are very thick with very long torsos, broad shoulders, little to no figure and breasts halfway down their chest to their stomach. The designs look like drawings for all older women body types, like 50+ y/o women. They look more like male body figures with breast tacked on, and kinda poorly tbh. Also like others said, the details on the faces look almost muddy at times with a lack of defined features.

HaikenEdge

I'm with you. I look at the game's art in its current form and it wouldn't even pass for a project's art comp in a design studio, let alone being pushed as a finished product.

Artwork is unique and I like it. We all have different tastes I guess. Apart from what is written above I find art convincing, better than totally unrealistic renders where all characters are super defined or extremely perky in any way (mostly with huge assets). This kind of art gives more realistic perspective and personally I find it more easy to identify with it rather than having super sculpted bodies with enormous attributes. Part where Dakota thigh looks bigger than waist, that should suit some office workers I mean not everyone today have slim fit figure, so either should make Dakota slimmer or maybe Dakota eats too much ice cream :) I d like to see where it goes. So far, this art is really some fresh air in sea of generic renders. That alone is valuable, genuine and deserves support. Final, final renders could get more detailed in face, and a slightly sharper perhaps. Body proportions, well that entirely up to for creator to decide, but I don't find it that weird as some stated. I mean have you gone to some office and actually spotted people that need reinforced chairs to sit on with tiny hands.... yeah, exactly. Don t say its attractive, only stating its quite possible vision.

I love the game so far but... while I am all for changing the photos (unless they are paid for it and thus more could be produced as needed) into something else, the actual style would totally kill it for me :/ Best would be, if there maybe is an option to switch between styles where possible, of course with warning like "Photos - not all scenes/characters have (fitting) pictures"

I feel lie the art style is okay, it does look dated, but good enough. It's nice that, in theory, it would make you more flexible. In practice, I cannot imagine a world where this art is going to be able to keep up with text content-creation and I worry that animations are going to be meh at best. I think 3D based art would scale a lot better and be better suited to keep animations in the game. It could also likely be scaled to more artists more easily, and a lot of assets could straight up be purchased. In terms of a long term solution, it seems clearly superior.

Blasphazar

When it comes to the artwork I'm fine with it overall, the style doesn't bother me and etc. The only thing that gets me is that when the scenes start getting more busy the lines get funky. If the lines got cleaned up a little I'd be perfectly fine with everything.

Alx

I think the art style could be improved... the character desing is ok ( although extremly similar from 1 character to an other ) but the action pieces are lacking an show the limits of your artist. Being an artist myself, I understand how hard this is. And I'm also sceptical about his / her ability to keep up with your updates. But there are tools to improve your art and work faster ( photo references, 3d poser, peirs review ). Good luck That being said, I'll keep playing the version using photos

Kimi

Just clean it up really, the actions scenes are the only thing that bother me so far. It's fine otherwise. Keep up the great work.

Some positive feedback because I absolutely adore this art and style! Really my only complaint is the eyes, they get lost on the animation and aren't very visible, almost like the white in the eyes is nonexistent. The roughness has a charm to it and it makes the game stand apart from the ocean of sameness that is out there. I really hope you don't move towards a 3D version or an anime/manga design - keep it unique so that when we see the art we think "oh, this is Westane's game, or is styled like it." not "oh, more of the same, ok".

Eh, it will definitely have a unique art style.

the only nitpicking I can do Is Colours. It looks too orangish. would like more vibrant palette.
