Greetings, degenerates! JustXuX here. Settle in as we delve into a few updates regarding Patreon that I'll be rolling out soon.

1. Discord Votes and Patreon Polls: As previously discussed on Discord, your votes in the Discord polls will now carry 1 voting power in the Patreon polls. Essentially, at the end of each voting period, one vote will be added to the game that received the most votes on Discord. This adjustment ensures that even non-paying members have a say, albeit a limited one, in our decision-making process.

2. Updating Goals: It's essential to stay adaptable, and as such, I'll be revising the goals listed on our about page. To give you an overview, my translation process increasingly relies on AI to speed things up. For instance, I've been utilizing the GPT API; specifically, I’ve compared the latest GPT4-Turbo against the more budget-friendly GPT3.5-Turbo. GPT4-Turbo significantly enhances the quality of translations, though it comes at a higher cost — translating a small game can run about $40 with GPT4-Turbo, as opposed to $5 with GPT3.5-Turbo. Based on the amount of support I receive on Patreon, I might alternate between these two to manage expenses efficiently. Hence, your continued support could not only assist in cost management but also improve the translations we undertake.

3. Future Aspirations - Developing a Custom AI: Looking ahead, I aim to develop and fine-tune my own AI. This will allow for local use without the limitations and censorship increasingly seen in the newest GPT API models. With companies like OpenAI imposing stricter content restrictions, it's crucial to find sustainable alternatives for translating content that might be deemed sensitive. The anticipated release of a new AI model, Llama 3, is particularly promising. By establishing our own AI, we could potentially benefit from significantly reduced costs, enhanced translation quality, and freedom from censorship constraints.
