Hello wonderful Patrons!

Today, we are announcing a big change here at TFD that we have been plotting for quite some time now. For the past eight years, Chelsea has been hosting our weekly flagship series on our YouTube channel, covering everything from secret wastes of money to pretty privilege to delusions held by the rich. And since late last year, we've been sharing one of these videos a month exclusively with our Society members — you all here on Patreon as well as our members on YouTube.

We're so proud of our flagship show and all of the topics it has allowed us to cover. But let's also be honest, guys. Eight years is a LONG time, especially in Internet Years. The media landscape has evolved, and so have we. To that end, Chelsea and the rest of us have decided to finally take the leap and make our flagship show into what we've wanted it to be for years: a space for fewer, longer-form, deeper-dive video essays into the topics we're currently most obsessing over. Instead of publishing one video a week, Chelsea's Tuesday show will now move to one episode per month. But it will be longer, more in depth, and honestly, all-around better. We'll even be incorporating expert interviews to help us dive deeper into each topic. (And we've already got our first few planned: keep your eye out for our first longform video coming later this month, all about why millennial women will never recover from the romcom).

And don't worry: aside from our regularly planned season breaks, The Financial Confessions isn't going anywhere, and we'll now have even more space on the channel to bring in new, expert voices on the topics we know you're most interested in (including our passion projects like Too Good To Be True!).

What does this mean for members?

First things first: while we initially envisioned our Patreon to be an "above and beyond" version of the Society on YouTube, we've heard your feedback. (And frankly, we've seen your lack of engagement on our higher-tier perks. And that's okay! If they're not working for you, they're not working for us.) Having different membership tiers across YouTube and Patreon has simply been confusing. So starting today, we are making our memberships identical across YouTube and Patreon. This means we will have just two tiers that are identical on each platform: the $4.99 full-access Society at TFD membership (which is where you'll need to be in order to get ad-free bonus video content), as well as a $2.99 Society Lite option for members who want to support us, but don't have the budget for a full-access membership at the moment.

Members of the full-access Society tier will still very much get access to ad-free bonus content, it will just look a bit different now! Instead of a short monthly bonus video, you'll get access to a completely ad-free director's cut of each month's longform video, with plenty of footage exclusive to members (rants, tangents, deeper dives into semi-related topics, etc.). While we may be producing fewer videos on our flagship series, it will ultimately be a bigger bang for your buck, with ultimately more bonus footage and fewer ads to sit through.

We will also eventually be phasing out our $7 and $12 tiers completely, so if you are a current Patron, be sure to edit your membership to the $4.99 option in order to continue getting access to our ad-free videos going forward — click here to learn how to edit your membership.

As always, your support as members means the world to us. We couldn't do what we love without your support — and the more support we have directly from our audience, the less we'll have to depend on ad dollars! If you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see from the Society in the future, please do leave a comment below, or email me at holly@thefinancialdiet.com.

Take care, and thanks for your continued support!

Yay for this! All sounds like good changes. I'll swap over to the 4.99 from 7.

Love this! Will y'all consider doing an annual subscription in the future?
