Gryffindor

Rose hear the words falling out of the hat-curled lips. A nice loudish cheer echoed throughout the red house. Rose stood up with a beaming smile getting the house she wanted, catching the light blue eyes of Dumbledore. He seemed to be proud of her decision, but maybe it was just the twinkle in his old eyes.

She walks over to the table of Lion's den as they continue to throw up fist into the air. Malfoy sitting at the table right next to her. She looks at his short blond hair. His hand grips around his goblet. His face gave a snarl expression. His evil girlfriend whispered in his ear. He not looking so well as of something is taking a toll on him.

Rose's eyes wander down the great hall to a round table full of people. She catches a glimpse of a handsome dark-faced smirk. Her newfound feminine emotions getting the better of her. Rose turns her attention toward Cormac across the hall, he gives her a simple wink.

Slughorn says some words that the raven-haired witch pays little attention to. "Before the feast commences I'd like you all to welcome me to you. I'm Professor Slughorn. Dumbledore has greatly given me my old subject. I can't wait to teach the young minds about the wonders of potions."

The Slytherin table erupts when it's announced that Snape will be teaching defense against the dark arts. Rose couldn't believe her ears. She looks at a few Hogwarts students as a nervous chill runs through her body. But that soon passed when dinner started to materialize on their plates.

A delicious roast beef, herb-buttered carrots, fried potatoes, and turkey legs, all form right before her eyes. Dinner plates with all kinds of food pop in front of her and the table. The smell is truly intoxicating. Rose put an elbow on the table, using her palms to hold her head.

Dumbledore's end of feast speaks near its ends. "As you know, every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight. And you have the right to know why. Once, there was a young man. Like you, sitting in this very hall. Walked this castle's corridors. Slept under its roof. You see, to all the world, a student like any other. His name: is Tom Riddle. Today, of course, is known all over the world by another name. This is why as I stand, looking out upon you all tonight, I'm reminded of a sobering fact. Every day, every hour, this very minute, perhaps...dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls. But in the end, that greatest weapon...is you. Just something to think about. Now off to bed, beep beep."

Rose paid close attention to his almost burnt-looking hand. She feels very worried looking at him, as she would be having additional lessons with the white-bearded man this year.

Cormac comes over to her. "So, is our little deal, still on the table tonight?"
