You are confused by his words. "What do you mean a'real man takes what he wants'?"

Chad said, "A real man isn't afraid to go after the girl he wants. A real man isn't afraid to fight for what he desires."

You are even more confused. "Fight for what I desire? Fight you?"

Chad said, "Not me. Other guys. The other guys who are chasing her. If you want her, you have to fight for her."

You said, "I'm not going to fight anyone. I'm not going to force myself on her, either."

Chad said, "Maybe you should. Maybe that's what she needs. She'll figure out and realize what a pussycat you are if you keep cuddling her. Showing your emotions never works. You have to show her your strength. You have to show her what a real man is."

You said, "Are you giving me advice on how to date a girl? What kind of game are you playing?"

Chad said, "It's not a game, freshman. I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to show you the way to a woman's heart. If you want her, you have to make her yours. You have to show her that you're a man."

You are hesitant. You don't want to hurt anyone, but you do want her. You want to show her that you're a man, but you don't know how. "How do I show her that I'm a man?"

"Be a jerk sometimes. Put your own self-interest ahead of hers. Show her that you're a man and that she's not the only girl you can get. Show her that you can get any girl you want."

You said, "Why would I do that? Isn't that counter-intuitive? If I act like a jerk, won't that make her not want me?"

Chad said, "No freshman; that's the point. You have to make her realize that she's not the only one out there. You have to show her that you're capable of getting other women. Then, when you decide to be a nice guy, she'll realize how much she wants you."

You said, "So basically, you're telling me to act like a dick sometimes and then be nice to her?"

Chad nods as he undermines your young relationship for his own greedy ends. He can't stand the fact that you're happy, and he has to ruin it. "Exactly, freshman. Exactly. You have to show her that you're a real man. Once she realizes that, she'll realize how much she wants you."
