Look at the release dates for the Friday the 13th films. It's insane. They came out on a yearly basis (except for a missed year here or there). They would release one, then write, cast, film, edit and release the next one within a year. Even for lower budget horror, that's fucking impressive and it also shows how big of a following the series had in its hay day. They didn't even bother to wait for the box office results. They just went right into the next sequel.

A rule of thumb regarding this franchise: If the opening credits says "Special Make-Up Effects by Tom Savini", then at least the gore will be good 😄

Watching this as a 13 yo in the theaters...even though we had no idea who Jason was until the Mom explained it..it was still mind blowing that it was just a mom...but then the pull in to the lake at the end was amazing...

I remember there being 3 movies titled Friday the 13th; Part 1, 2, & Part 3. Part 3 was in 3D

Sean S. Cunningham has said this movie was just supposed to be a cash grab after Halloween, but I think he inadvertently made a really good movie.
