The Evil Dead - Patreon Version

So, here's the deal: "Evil Dead 2" is a remake of "Evil Dead", except with a bunch more money. Raimi had so much success with "Evil Dead" that he was able to come up with better financing, and re-did the same plot only more extreme - including the slapstick. Imagine if the Three Stooges made "Evil Dead". And then "Army of Darkness" is a sequel to that. They should all be seen, and in that order. The TV series "Ash vs. Evil Dead" is fun, too. Years later we get to see what has become of Ash (Ne'er do well, dissolute womanizer, badass)and since it was not network there is just as much blood and gore. Hey, I've always had a couple issues with this and the tribute "Cabin in the Woods". Why would anyone go to the massive trouble and expense to build a steel truss bridge that only goes to a small cabin? And in "Cabin in the woods" there's an entire tunnel through a mountain that only goes to a small cabin. . . What the heck? Also, in this picture, where does the electricity come from? They don't have a generator, are they trying to tell us there's power grid out there? I'm not serious, just picky. I love the film. In fact I was working as a volunteer at The Redford Theatre, in a Detroit suburb, back in the 80s when "Evil Dead" had its world premier there. Raimi, Tappert, Campbell, etc. were all from the area and rented the Redford (which is/was a classic film theatre) for the premier. They rented it again later, for another film, and I got to sit in the auditorium a few rows behind Raimi watching dailies for that film. Don't ask. We were all in our 20s then . . . Sigh.

Noe Ramirez

Sam Rami is the king of camp! Idk how to describe it but all of his movies just have a certain tone to them. They're serious enough that you get invested in the characters and feel what they're going through, but goofy in a way that gives the movie a fun energy. I love his movies! Drag Me To Hell is a ton of fun as well as gross and creepy.

DM DC

As I understood it, Evil Dead 2 is both a reboot and remake. If I recall hearing Sam Rami couldn't get certain rights from the 1st one and so he redid the whole thing.

Great thing about this channel is seeing a movie I loved as a teen, maybe didn't appreciate so much any longer, then see somebody else love it for what it is. Fantastic. If you do the sequels. Second one they had rights issues, so they kind of re-do the first movie as an extended recap to start off. Whole thing is played more for comedy, and they had a bigger budget. Third one is off the wall, and made even my non-horror pals happy when dragged along to watch it.
