I feel like the theatrical cut of this movie is mediocre at best whereas the director’s cut brings it up to a pretty solid status. Most of the emotional side plots got cutout in the theatrical version along with the more brutal combat scenes. The director’s cut just feels like a more complete story; at about 45 minutes longer it really should!

I really dislike the Director's Cut for the massive music changes they did. Made the soundtrack much worse, removing some of the best tracks of the movie. Never really understood that move

There’s an 8 episode mini series about Troy on Netflix that gets a lot more into the gods and portrays the story more accurately. It’s called Troy, fall of a city I think. Fair warning it is harder to watch than this movie, the ending is really messed up. Also the dialogue is kinda cheesy at times but overall it was pretty good and worth watching if you like the story.
