Outrunning a tornado can indeed be possible, They can be pretty slow sometimes or almost stationary.

I live in Oklahoma where this movie was shot. On May 19th 2013 our house was hit by an f2. House stayed thankfully. The next day, May 20th, the worst tornado hit my family's hometown of Moore. It was an EF5 and I lost my cousin in that storm. An elementary school was hit and 8 children and a few teachers passed away. Even with all our technology here, these storms can be very unpredictable.

Well I picked a great time to join your patreon, this is one of my all-time favorite movies and actually began my love of weather, and tornados in particular. Went to school for meteorology for as long as I could before the math became ridiculous and I had to switch majors, but I still do forecasts, watch weather models and chase storms when I can find someone to watch my dogs for a few days. There are some fairly large inaccuracies in this movie (such as predicting an F5, punching the core when there's no rain/hail, chasing for the money, etc) but overall it's good. Pretty much any chaser under say...50 years old will say this movie was what got them interested in chasing.
