I despise these sequels. Alan was literally scared to death to even look at the game but these sequels using the comedy approach tarnished the horror of the world of Jumanji, making one wonder what Alan was even afraid of in the first place. (Spoiler) The kid even wanted to go BACK inside to remember what it was like to be Bravestone. Alan didn't want anything to do with the game ever again. I'll stop, I could rant all day about this.

I would counter though by saying that Alan was sucked in on his own, which would make it vastly different for him handling it. Though also since it "changed" we could imagine that the world changed a bit. Though even in this one there were terrifying creatures that would kill you given half a chance. The "rules" seemed to have changed for how time passes though, so Alan actually was aware of the years spent in there, whereas the kid trapped in this one wasn't aware of how long it had been.
