Monty Python and The Holy Grail - Patreon Version

Paul Davey

Monty Python's Flying Circus was a British TV comedy series during the 60's. They went on to make several movies after the series ended throughout the 70s and 80s. Along with Holy Grail, Life of Brian also seems to be a fan favorite among the masses. Also I gotta say, it never occurred to me before but dressing up as King Arthur and having someone follow you with two coconuts would make for great cosplay at a convention I imagine.

About the castle question, Europe has a lot. Just my tiny country (Belgium) has around 3000 castle's

The Holy Grail is according to legend the cup used by Christ at the last supper the night before his arrest and then supposedly caught his blood at the crucifixion. The bible itself only makes mention of the serving of wine, so there would be a cup used, but no mention of is made of it directly. I'm not sure where it comes from, but the earliest mention I can think of comes from the Arthurian legends themselves. As for the movie, we will not explain it. There is no explaining it. It's Monty Python. They are beyond explanation.

I believe Monty Python had no ending to the movie when writing, so they literally wrote themselves a "cop out".

"Is this for kids?" ... *Castle Anthrax scene* ... *shakes magic eight ball* "My sources say no."

Only way to make sense of this is it's a mystery about the murder of a historian amidst the filming of an Arthurian LARP from the point of view of the wrong characters.

Just fyi, this was the movie that made me a patron. I'm not English or (currently) living in the maintenance closet at the Anaheim location of Medieval Times, but if you get these jokes, you are my people...

The holy hand grenade was also later used in the Worms games if u ever played those. On another note, what a great reaction this was! Watched it three times already (the movie being one of my favorites may have helped). But really enjoyable and happy to see you like the Monty Python humor :)

Meaning of Life is definitely worth watching too. A lot of classics there and much more great artwork in it too as I recall.
