Amazing show that's presented so well. Won't comment on the Quaker dealio as that's been covered well already and I'm sure that you've looked into it. :) lol, love how you're both calling that one guy Gonorrhea! xD Also, very happy that you both are continuing to enjoy the show! :) I'll be continuing the watchalong! :)

The white spade ♠️ on their helmet was for the 506th parachute infantry regiment, so that the soldiers would be identified as callsigns , theirs was “Kidnap”

As far as Spiers. From what I understand they had no ability to keep and guard prisoners on DDay so I understand some of them had orders to shoot them. They were still not yet successful and had to use all their resources to try and win a foothold in Normandy before they had the ability to take care of prisoners.

In the middle of watching but wanted to answer your question about Quakers and Mennonites. Essentially they are both peaceful pacifist sects of Christianity. They differ in worship but both do not really believe in fighting. Quakers and I assume Mennonites as well can register as conscientious objectors of wars and refuse to fight. When Guarnere kept stating that Winters was first a Quaker and then a Mennonite, he was saying that Winters wouldnt really fight. I'm sure at first he somewhat believed this but even toward the end of this episode you can see his respect for Winters growing. I think at first he was saying he didnt really trust Winters to fight at his back but by now it is more of a friendly teasing. At least that is how I see it.

Wondering about killing the enemy? 1) they are behind enemy lines- they are vunrable 2) If the Germans are with the group, they are still dangerous, besides, 3) the main objective is to kill the enemy.
