Okay, George doesn't like things that end with a space baby. No one let him play Half-Life!

Low calorie density and high liquid content (like watermelon).

OMG! I forgot this is the "Ron Howards' Brother" episode! Hahaha

By the end of THIS series, a lot of the rules and lore of Starfleet, the United Federation of Planets, etc, are a bit more fleshed out. But many first season episodes use weird, varied names for the organizations. Earlier TV wasn't above making things up as they go. More than later shows, anyway. The movies make a little more sense of it, and then TNG pretty much has it all figured out.

Always great to see Clint Howard

Following on from Tantalus, Lethe was one of the rivers of Hades. Anyone who drank from it suffered complete forgetfulness. It was a good name for the woman whose persona was so subdued and blank in this episode. James Gregory (Dr. Adams) is well known for The Manchurian Candidate but I love him best as Inspector Luger on the show Barney Miller, which aired about a decade after this Star Trek episode. It is a *very* atypical cop show with a lot of dry humor, and well worth your time even if you watch a few episodes privately on your own. It had the first gay couple on TV as recurring characters, and like Star Trek it had a very diverse cast for the time. Jack Soo as Sgt. Nick Yemana was a particular favorite. In one episode another cop asked him if he ever pined for the old country, for the cherry trees and the rice paddies and the temples. "I'm from Omaha," Nick replied, confused. The other cop: "We got a city in Nebraska sounds just like that!"
