I was fortunate enough to witness and touch one the 76 remaining airworthy Spitfires in my hometown recently. The sound is something to behold. The dives and turns shook us whilst we sat with drinks near the sand dunes of our beach. I can only imagine the pride seeing those Spitfires flying overhead in wartime.

When I was in CAP as a kid way back when, I was lucky enough to be tasked with wiping down a P-51 Mustang that was kept in a hangar at the AFB where we practiced. It was in bare metal, unpainted. One of my strongest memories from my youth. What a machine that was.
