So so happy you guys reacted to this absolute classic! :D I believe I read somewhere that John Landis regrets certain things about this film, the abrupt ending in particular, which I believe was due to time constraints. He felt that transformation scene should have been much shorter but just couldn't cut it because he was so impressed. A remake was proposed recently but was just not meant to be.

Happy Birthday Monica!!

George has never seen the Muppets??? You gotta start watching the Muppet movies starting with The Muppet Movie of course

The real star of the movie is Rick Baker, who did all of the amazing wolf transformations as well as the dead people. This movie won him his first of 11 nominations for Best Makeup 11 times (a record), as well as his first of 7 wins (another record). He got his start as a teen, making human body parts at the kitchen table. He did Michael Jackson's Thriller video, prosthetics for The Exorcist, the original Star Wars trilogy, Harry and the Hendersons, Coming to America, Gremlins 2, Men in Black I & II & III, Planet of the Apes, X-Men Last Stand, and many more, so you've seen his work lots of times. My feeling about the ending is that there's nothing left to tell. Instead of someone trying to come up with pithy remarks to explain David's demise, the audience is left in shock. While I love Lord of The Rings, compare this ending to that movie, which still has about 30 minutes of drama and tears after all of the action has conluded. Short and to the point.

You guys should watch Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Had to rewatch this reaction, it's such a unique movie, and I know John Landis is more known for his comedies but this is honestly my favorite of his movies. The campiness I love, but also the werewolf lore and of course the iconic transformation scene. One of those movies I never get sick of. And werewolf movies are a favorite subgenre because I think that whole Jekyll/Hyde, duality of man trope is really interesting to play with. WOLF, the Jack Nicholson one I've probably mentioned an annoying amount, is I think a great example of that. There was also a great underrated show in the 80s called Werewolf that was basically The Hulk but he's a drifter/werewolf who somehow always seems to do the right thing despite being an insane murder beast. Oh man, but I have to also recommend WOLFEN, it's not a typical werewolf movie, but it's kind of trippy, B-Movie fun. Actually has a stacked cast, Albert Finney, Gregory Hines, Diane Venora, Tom Noonan, Tom Waits, Edward James Olmos.

If you Google search, you can find photos of the time a few years ago when Rick Baker did his daughter's Halloween costume. She went as Jack from this movie in the initial gnarly ghost form, with the dangling throat bit. When Rick Baker is your dad, you know you have the greatest Halloween costume in history on lock.

Fun fact... The American that visits David in the hospital is Frank Oz... Later on, there is a clip on the "Tele" with the Muppet Show.... Mr. Frank Oz, for a very long time, was the voice of Miss Piggy. 😊😊
