Here’s a movie you‘ll love, I promise: Don‘t Tell Mom the Babysitter‘s Dead (1991) The title is a bit goofy but it’s a little fun movie with a young Christina Applegate in a leading role.

Luca Kelly

Before sunrise 🙏

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

When Harry Met Sally is awesome! We can all have what she’s having. That and Billy Crystal’s fantastic with Meg Ryan. Pretty Woman’s great as well!

CarolynK

How do I choose? All so good.

Ph4ZeD

Moonlight is great

Joe Williams

When Harry Met Sally, Moonlight and Before Sunrise are legit classics.

Chris H.

I love that none of these are new to both George and Simone.

dudewheresmycar

George not a romcom lover I guess.

nj

i quote this movie on the regular - my friend gave me a coffee mug with one of the lines printed on it a couple years ago. well worth a watch.

Patrick Blondin

Oh, so it’s chick-flick time? 😂 One of these movies was the inspiration for my little sister’s name.

The Gunslinger

You should check out Rango at some point. I think both of you will love it.

JayF

IMO this has to be WHMS. It's the one all other romcoms are judged against. Plus I think George would enjoy it the most from this list.

JoshG

Love some swayze

paul rai

I know it won’t get a lot of votes (yet), but I can’t wait for you guys to see the entire Before trilogy (Sunrise, Sunset, and Midnight). I recently saw it a couple weeks ago and it’s one of my favorite love stories. Just incredible that Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy stuck together for almost 30 years and evolved the relationship of two beautiful souls and the writing and dialogue is pitch-perfect realism. Very reminiscent of how much time you feel is infinite when you’re young but slowly you feel it’s weight as you get older, and the art of conversation with someone you love constantly changing. One of the best movie trilogies out there. (I absolutely put this up there with LOTR, Toy Story, Original Star Wars, and the Cornetto trilogy.)

Jeff K

When Harry Met Sally is the best romcom ever made. Really hope it wins.

Jeff K

Agreed. The humor is so much more biting than standard romcoms.

Śéáń

Before Sunrise with the combobreaker there

JayF

And dang it, Simone, put The Shop Around the Corner (1940) on these lists. You haven't indicated you've seen it yet so it would be new to both of you.

Tim Nicolle

Impossible to chose this week but had to go for Sleepless in Seattle!

redddfer44

I'm a simple guy: If Richard Linklater is in a poll, I vote for Richard Linklater.

J Danger87

I wonder why George hasn't seen most of these movies.

Smiffy

Yeuch. Only one good movie in the bunch for me. Seen em all, only liked Before Sunrise. But please lord not pretty woman. It is the absolute worst

Herbert Goat

Gosh, I'd say your the bigger romantic Simone. Better let George catch up!

Jonathan Jones

Your Name would be a great addition to this list :D

DilusisHorseDoosties

Damn, Arthur (1981) beats the brakes off of all these movies

PureGonzo

Before Sunrise is an absolute masterpiece.

Amar

I few more romcoms that both might not have seen: -Big Sick -About Time -Ruby Sparks -Palm Springs

Kevin Ehle

Dirty Dancing! I would pay any amount of money to watch George and Simone use their dance skills to reenact the iconic dance scene.

FischerMax98

I'm more Notting Hill, when it comes to Julia Roberts. And since Sandy B has been left out, can't go wrong with good old Sleepless.

Bonny T

Finally! Here's hoping for When Harry Met Sally and Before Sunrise 🙏🏼💖

Nikodem

For the next romantic poll: 500 days of summer! A great romantic comedy that kinda deconstructs the cliché rom-com tropes. 👍

E. D.

If there is a must-watch movie then it must be To Wong Foo (1995). G&S are gonna have a blast watching it, another one: The Birdcage (1996). It‘s Pride Month after all.

Ryan Morgan

Simone must have a favorite genre lol

jmundt33a

Bunch of classics with Moonlight and The Notebook along for the ride.

Da Big Appa

If there is another romcom list About Time is amazing and I've seen it also recommended by a few other patrons.

Thexx

I don't care which ones win. I'm rewatching all of these regardless. If "Notting Hill" was on here my eyes wouldn't be dry for a month.

miniature

old movie mean good! good movie mean bad! me knuckle on floor!

Carlos Hurtado

I see. Simone is clearly a fan of horror films.

jmundt33a

Given that it’s pride month, Freeheld, Moonlight, To Wong Foo, The Birdcage, Brokeback, and Carol would be most appreciate. And I’ll throw in for Debs, an early 2000s guilty pleasure.

jmundt33a

In the sense that it gets pounded into dust and forgotten about? Arthur is to these movies (well, the first four and the last one) as that ridiculous Arthur remake is to the original😮‍💨

jmundt33a

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Moonlight is a classic of a different stripe. And The Notebook is the least competent scripting and film-making of the lot. Plus, I like The Notebook. It’s just up against four of my all-time favorites right in a row.

Ken Schneyer

It amuses me (more than it should) how many of these are new only to George.

lovemoose

Geez simone xD

Nikodem

That's a good question actually. Hmmm... there are comedic elements for sure. But it's not a drama either. I don't know 😁

Date Mike

... what a surprise.... Simone saw all of them...

T.C. Thompson

Something tells me Simone likes romance movies.

BoredLittleLady

My favorite romance movies are period pieces based on books. May I suggest: Pride & Prejudice (2005) starring Keira Knightley, Little Women (1994) starring Winona Rider, Emma (2020) starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Little Women (2019) starring Saoirse Ronan.

RipTheRipper

Requests: - Turtles All The Way Down (2024) - It Follows (2014) - Knock At The Cabin (2023) - M3GAN (2022) - Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) - Another Earth (2011)

Dan Holmes

There are definitely rom coms out there neither of you have seen. Any of these? Fools Rush In Crazy Stupid Love That Old Feeling While You Were Sleeping Notting Hill Blast from the Past The Wedding Singer Father of the Bride As Good As It Gets My Big Fat Greek Wedding Forgetting Sarah Marshall Serendipity Just Friends

Morion Williams

Some romance movies new to both of you, Addicted to Love Secret of my Success (Michael J Fox) For Love or Money (Michael J Fox) 100 Girls 100 Women IQ Son in Law (Pauly Shore, really funny) Sex Drive Cry Baby (My Favourite Musical)

James Lawson

Ahhhh i so want Dirty Dancing to win! Would love to watch that again and especially to see George's take on it

Maiki

If i remember correctly, Simone once mentioned that she's seen it. But yeah, great movie. And as a straight man i have to admit, god damnit Ryan Gosling, pick me up in a bar whenever you want.

simpLeXity

Serendipity, Must Love Dogs, Crazy Stupid Love, The Proposal... great choices for the next New to George poll 😁

Kevin

Give me Hitch!!!!

Christina Doxstader

Crazy Stupid Love was on a fairly recent poll and I think it did pretty well so if it makes it on another poll it will provably get first or second.

Lorkein

I don't know before sunrise. I guess at some point George has to watch Sleepless in Seattle. But maybe When Harry met Sally could be good too. And for another time, I still recommend Somewhere in time...

E. D.

Never saw it but I read the screenplay many years ago.

FWPJR.

I wish you’d react to the “Wedding Singer” with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, I’m sure others have suggested it but maybe not idk other good romcoms I’d like to see is “Knocked Up” and “This is 40” ( you have to watch “Knocked Up” before “This is 40” though” ) another great Sandler romcom is “50 first dates” that’s another Sandler and Barrymore movie. I love all these and would really love to see you two reactions to them all.

FWPJR.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who loved “Sex Drive” lol and heck yes to “Son in Law”

FWPJR.

I love that all these are new to George except for one lol and who would’ve guessed Simone loves romance movies? it’s not like she mentions that she always watches “you’ve got mail” over and over again lol

Jason McCloud

What I want, is simple. I'd love for you to react to, "Only the Brave" one of these days. June 30th will be the 11th anniversary.

Cisco Furio

Wheres a walk to remember? :(

Vellu

Some comedy recommendations: - The Great Race (Blake Edwards 1965, starring Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) - 1941 (Steven Spielberg 1979, starring a lot of people) - A Fish Called Wanda (1988, starring John Cleese and Jamie Lee Curtis) - Ed Wood (Tim Burton 1994, starring Johnny Depp) 1941 is one of my guilty pleasure movies. Saw it first time when I was eight, loved it then and still love it today, no matter what people (or Spielberg himself) say about it.

John

I would suggest the following movies for another romance movie poll: Loves Jones Love and Basketball Some like it hot Woman of the Year (1942) Guess Who's coming to dinner When a man loves a woman

Mastervodo

"HEY Everybody and welcome to, "Gee, I wonder what kind of movies Simone likes?" I'm Simone and this is George, and this is where we watch every Rom Com ever made by man."

Tyler Foster

YES WHEN HARRY MET SALLY FINALLY

John

Secret of my success is a Michael J fox gem

Thexx

Are you trying to destroy my soul!? Just when I had forgot about that one. It and "The Notebook" double feature were my bread and butter for a long time.

G P

Well this is certainly a selection When Harry Met Sally - no contest

JoeE

Would recommend what’s up doc, some like it hot, taxi driver

Byron Abrahams

George, dude. Your romcom experience is lacking.

Happy Hanukkah

Moonlight? Maybe some day Moonstruck (1987).

Cisco Furio

I would never try do destroy your soul... im trying to destroy Simone and Gorge's souls 😆

Rachel W

For the next Romance list-some great films neither of you have seen(probably)...the classic....."Some Like It Hot"(1959), the hidden gem, "Crossing Delancey"(1988) and the Oscar winning "Moonstruck"(1987) and some twisted love stories..."True Romance"(1993) and "Natural Born Killers"(1994)

Jorge Lopez

Weird. My vote is not registering when I select a movie, but I was able to "like" the post. Not sure if there's an error in the settings for the post or if it's something with my account. Never happened before. Anyone else having an issue voting?

Thexx

NBK Director's Cut! I'll have to rewatch that just because.

Guy-on-Couch

is there a reason that one of them has seen all these movies or was it a coincidence?

Jasper Collins

All but one movie is new to Simone. that tells you something

Anamondaris

I wish Garden State was on this poll but I think George would enjoy a few of these.

HeyHeyJK

I'd love to see "Punch Drunk Love" with Adam Sandler on a romance list one day. In my top ten favorite films of all time and the first film Sandler did that wasn't his broad goofy comedy. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson right after "Magnolia" and also features Philip Seymour Hoffman. It creates and lives in its own quirky little universe and it's just so great.

sarCC

His Girl Friday Notorious Grosse Pointe Blank Out Of Sight

jmundt33a

Far, FAR away. If you need a heartstring tug and a Mandy Moore fix, This Is Us is infinitely superior The directing from Adam Shankman and the acting from everyone who isn’t Moore make A Walk to Remember far more suitable for Cinecringe treatment.

pedantech

"Harold and Maude" (1971) would have been a fun choice in this poll.

Jeremy Charlie

Sideways. It's a rom com for middle-aged men.

Alex F

Some suggestions: - Me, Myself & Irene (2000) -Butterfly Effect (2004) -Super - Shut Up Crime! (2010) - In The Mouth Of Madness (1994) - I Saw The Devil (2010) Korean Movie Greetings from Germany 🫶🏻

Brian Sittler

Not my favorite genre but a great option is Sliding Doors from 1998.

RipTheRipper

I was also wondering...my gut is it was on purpose cuz I think a lot of peeps are like me and won't vote for a film one has already seen

Jeff K

Two Steve Martin romcoms to consider for the future: Roxanne and LA Story

akaTheBARON

🖤There are some absolute rock stars on this list when it comes to this genre... rock stars I tell you!... but why The Notebook isn't at least in the top 3 shows me the men in this community are scared of getting mad emotional LOL. They're just feelings everybody, they won't bite XD. I'd literally watch anything on this poll tho.

Mycenaeus .

How about "What's Up, Doc?" (1972)

Mike Minerals

Rom-Coms are like Country Music to me; just not my thing, but if you keep an open mind, there are some gems to be found. As others have mentioned, I personally enjoy creative twists on the genre like "Punch-Drunk Love" and "Harold and Maude". And in the case of "When Harry Met Sally"... a great movie is a great movie, regardless of genre.

An Inanimate Fucking Object

Would be great for you to watch the “Before” movies. The only romance movies I’m aware of told in the form of a trilogy

Amar

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a GREAT shout!!!

Garrett Mazzuca

Would recommend 500 Days of Summer as another rom-com option.

FaceMustache

Lol I almost wonder what kind of movie Simone likes. 🤔

Harry Fieldson

Side suggestion: Before We Go

Wrencher86

Not my genre but I appreciate a poll that exclusively has things one of you has seen. Counters the people who always say they won't vote for anything that's not new to both of you. Also, I know I just said this isn't my genre but High Fidelity should 100% be on your radar for rom-coms.

Kilometers

I want you guys to watch an avant garde film or two, ike Fitzcarraldo by Herzog, Holy Mountain by Jodorowsky, Styricon by Fellini, or fuckin' Being John Malkovich. Love you guys, but, c'mon, let's get weird, life is short.

ExtraBigAssTaco

Let's see their reaction to The Skin I Live In (Antonio Banderas), or The Assignment (Michelle Rodriguez/Sigourney Weaver).

Tenwyn

Is there a romantic movie that Simone hasn't watched? 😂

Mike Minerals

I feel the same... I'm happy to see they're doing a Spike Jonze movie this week though!

Kilometers

well thank you for som unexpected recommendations, I'm on top f that Rose!

William D

Not great for channel growth though I would imagine, viewership would be low.

Patrick

Have either of you seen "Always be my maybe" with Ali Wong and Randal Park? It's one of my favorite rom-coms

Taylor Hunter

Recommend the Hatfields and McCoys 3 part mini series Each part is 2 hours so could be looked at like a movie trilogy

Brandon Meng

Some classics here that should definitely be reactions on the channel but whole heartedly disappointed the following aren't listed: About Time Love Actually Silver Linings Playbook Midnight in Paris Lars and the Real Girl Forgetting Sarah Marshall Blue Valentine 500 Days of Summer Perks of Being a Wallflower Punch Drunk Love The Wedding Singer For some of these I would not necessarily categorize them in the "romance" genre but love is certainly in the air in all of them! Edit - Other suggestions I forgot after reading comments: Moonstruck Notting Hill I Love You, Man

Brandon Meng

Lmaooooo Sex Drive is a movie I never expected to be recommended on this channel, 10/10 recommend. +1 for Warm Bodies too!

Tyler Foster

Another one I desperately want to see on many channels including Cinebinge

Tyler Foster

Together with When Harry Met Sally, Moonstruck and Crossing Delancey are the high watermark for '80s NYC rom-coms.

REDR58

Romance / romcom movies to consider that hopefully both of you have not seen: “An Officer and a Gentleman” (1982) with Richard Gere, Louis Gossett Jr. and Deborah Winger. “Risky Business” (1983) with Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay. “Cocktail” (1988) with Tom Cruise and Elisabeth Shue. “Say Anything” (1989) with John Cusack and Ione Skye. “Singles” (1992) with Bridget Fonda, Matt Dillion, Kyra Sedgewick and Campbell Scott. “The Remains of the Day” (1993) with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. “Sense and Sensibility” (1995) with Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant.

REDR58

I second “High Fidelity,” but I prefer when they do a movie both going in cold as they are simply more interesting reactions. What happens too much when one or the other has already seen the movie is we get a lot of questions being asked by one of them and the other keeps saying he or she can’t talk about it, so that gets old quickly.

James Pugal

Write in vote - La La Land (2016)

REDR58

It makes for a better reaction when they both haven’t seen it.

REDR58

I would LOVE for Simone and George to see what is perhaps the greatest if not only trifecta of movies featuring the same actor in the main starring role of each film released in the same year (1967), “To Sir, with Love,” “Guess Who's Coming to Dinner,” and “In the Heat of the Night”

Andrew T

Watching the Good Morning Vietnam reaction now, there's only one choice for me.

Alex Ch

I know Simone is a fan of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan romances - has she seen their other pairing, “Joe vs. the volcano?” How about the rest of you? He’s also done a couple more fun romantic comedies. I suspect “Splash” was such a big hit that it would draw interest as a reaction, and “The Man With One Red Show” was on HBO every day when I was growing up.

mky

Ha, Fitzcarraldo! 👍 Good luck on that poll. How about Eraserhead while we're at it? 😜

RipTheRipper

I loved Splash and Joe V the Volcano when they came out...I haven't seen JVTV since I saw it in the theater...saw Splash again years ago and it didn't hold up for me..

RipTheRipper

yeah tbh...I wish they would remove any the one has seen completely from suggestions and just tell peeps when those are requested that they will not be considered...but it is what it is...no biggie..I just never join in for those..

RipTheRipper

I request smaller films or weird films or niche films all the time....I am counting on their stated position to try and watch all films requested at some point...although the polls tend to be mostly bigger or mainstream stuff and certainly those win (understandably so)..I keep wishing they will just do lesser known or smaller stuff on the non poll winner days..but it often seems to be other stuff that came high in polls... but I'll keep requesting...I also request bigger stuff just to feel like I'm being seen..haha

mky

"Introducing Madeline Kahn" should be enough to at least get it on a poll. Such a fun movie.

RipTheRipper

Heavily co sign ones I've been requesting for awhile as well that are on your list.. Silver Livings Playbooks...Lars and the Real Girl...500 Days of Summer...Perks of Being a Wallflower

RipTheRipper

Co sign ones I've been requesting heavily that are also on your list.. Say Anything....Singles...Sense and Sensibility... I'll also add An Officer and a Gentleman to my co sign as I haven't thought of it in awhile but it is a legit great movie....nice list

mky

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. It's "com" with a bit of "rom", but not really the focus of the movie. It also helps to seen all of the classic movies that are referenced first. Heh.

Jeff I.

Yeah, I've suggested High Fidelity before. It's a top tier romantic comedy. Excellent writing and none of the usual cheesy dialogue/plot devices you see in most of them.

Travis H

I will always vote for the Before trilogy if any of them are ever on a poll! I’m curious if George has seen all of them or just the first. romance movie recs: Forgetting Sarah Marshal Bridesmaids Palm Springs

Bookwormy

yay pretty woman

MatthewBrown74m

I see when harry met sally but Where's my best friends wedding!!! Lol

Mickey6

How about "Moonstruck"

Wrencher86

Sure, it's more interesting when they're both new to it. But I've seen people say "I love that movie but I'm not voting for it because one of them has seen it." And I just can't wrap my head around that. Sure, ONE of them has seen it. That means the other one HASN'T. Why would you not want to share or recommend a movie you're a fan of to someone? Just seems like a weird way to approach this whole "reaction" endeavor. And the question/can't talk about it thing happens, on average, maybe twice during the movies one of them has seen.

Wrencher86

I'm not quite sure I'd even consider High Fidelity a "rom-com" based on how raw it's depiction of relationships is. But it is funny. And it is about romance. So... I have also recommended it a couple times. Ever since they asked for more John Cusack films during Con-Air I feel like people have been shouting "High Fidelity" or "Grosse Pointe Blank" pretty regularly. Fingers crossed those two get a viewing eventually.

Wrencher86

William D Yeah, but they do 3 movies a week. It's nice when they stray off the beaten path from time to time to bask in the weirdness that movies can be.

Wrencher86

Sideways is such a heavy-hitter in the emotions department. It's sooo funny but sooo depressing but also, somehow, really hopeful and optimistic. Brilliant film.

Simon Pegged Me

I love Joe Versus the Volcano, but I have a soft spot for flibbertigibbets. Like RipTheRipper, I liked Splash when I first saw it, years ago, saw it again recently, and I didn't think it held up. I've seen JVtV too many times to recall over the years, and I still love it despite its flaws (pacing being the main one).

Drew Acheson

I agree but also suspect that would be tough to do due to it's musical nature and YouTube's bots.

John

I did not know they were all released in 1967, I think all of those would be great movies to watch. I would add Lilies in the Field and a Patch of Blue as well as Sneakers and the Jackal (1997)

Matthew Johnson

I know it's currently in last place, but I would love y'all to do Moonlight sometime. That movie is beautiful. And no human being in any film has ever looked hotter than Andre Holland in that one smoking a cigarette.

Paul J. Tarker

I like 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002) with Josh Hartnett

John

Joe vs the volcano is fun, another Meg Ryan movie with romantic themes is When a Man loves a Woman also starring Andy Garcia

nossieboy

I love Pretty Woman, my Mum and I had a deal growing up. We can watch any film I wanted (as long as it wasn't scary) then we had to watch one of hers. So I watched plenty of romantic comedies growing up and Pretty Woman was one of my faves. The movie also has one of the best soundtracks.

RandomNevermind

Two very unusual romantic movies. They are transmitting the atmosphere of love but they are not exactly about it. Easy Virtue (2008) Midnight in Paris (2011)

Young Blood Priest

Midnight in Paris inspired Chris Rock to make Top Five with Rosario Dawson. It’s not When Harry met Sally but it’s one of my favorite romcoms.

Young Blood Priest

Romcom suggestion: The Best Man Brown Sugar Deliver Us from Eva. Almost forgot Top Five.

droodly

I was like WHAT?!? This a rom-com thread... then realized I was thinking of 30 Days of Night with Josh Hartnett :P

Brandon Meng

Midnight in Paris is so good with such a unique screenplay. Some of my favorite lines, ever, are in this movie.

Brandon Meng

Was genuinely surprised at how good Deliver us from Eva was. Great movie.

Tamalan

Before sunrise will lose this poll but please watch it. The series is one of my top 5.films of all .time and almost perfect.

rictus grin

Four Weddings and a Funeral and Shakespeare in Love would br good picks for a later poll

MDvortex

How about a western: Dances with Wolves, For a Fistful of Dollars, Four Fists for a Hallelujah... Think about it :)

David O'Neal

Roxanne with Steve Martin would be worth your time.

sol stapleton

Lisa frankenstein, the wicker man 78, the lighthouse, mad god, suspiria.

RogueRN

No matter what the results are, I feel sorry for George ;-) It’s kinda funny this popped up b/c I was re-watching an old video and Simone said something about since she had to watch so many war movies George had to watch some rom-coms.

Anthony De Los Santos

The before trilogy is seriously a must watch. One of the greatest movie trilogies of all time

Greg Beach

Stardust (2009)

jmundt33a

For whatever reason, Woody Allen films, even where he’s directing someone else to imitate him, set my teeth on edge.

Hiisnoone - DarrenO

can't say enough about the Before trilogy. Masterclass in dialog.

Thexx

Add me to the list for "High Fidelity". Awesome movie. I can't count how many times I've seen it. Quote it often. Sometimes I just put it on for something to ignore.

Lachlan Caldwell

Warm Bodies (2013) Stardust (2007) America's Sweethearts (2001)

NEIL PICKERING

Interesting that the male G has seen only one romcom romdrama and the female S has not seen only one, mmmmm! GENDER DEMOGRAPHICS?

Bill the Alderman

Notting Hill is the only Julia Roberts movie I love more than Pretty Woman.

William D

Didn't expect Before Sunrise to underperform, thought it would dominate

Smiffy

Not a chance. Too much copyrighted music - it would be silent on YT or they'd be "striked" out of existence

Tyler Foster

While I love the Before movies, they fall outside of the relatively narrow spectrum of movies that are hugely successful on reaction channels. To be fair, that doesn't mean they're obscure or disliked or anything, and the longer reaction channels go on, the wider the spectrum gets because the usual suspects (including The Usual Suspects) get checked off the list, so maybe someday everyone will be watching the Before trilogy, but frankly, I'm surprised it's not last (and even managed to eke out a victory over a larger title like Sleepless in Seattle, although that is probably down to Cinebinge's specific audience).

Tyler Foster

Yes, please. I already said this in another reply, but my trifecta of 1980s NYC rom-com royalty is When Harry Met Sally, Moonstruck, and Crossing Delancey.

Rachel W

Pretty Woman is awful.

Tyler Foster

Here's my list, which is a combination of seconding anything I saw recommended that I loved plus a bunch of others. Long list, but, why not. It Happened One Night (1934) My Man Godfrey (1936) Shop Around the Corner, The (1940) Some Like It Hot (1959) Charade (1963) Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) New Leaf, A (1971) What's Up, Doc?
