Spoilers: I think it depends. In the case of a series like GoT, yeah 3 years is pretty safe to talk about just about anything. But there are some spoilers out there that if you know it, it completely changes the movie. Fight Club and Sixth Sense immediately come to mind. Granted, I think a good majority of even people that haven't seen them might know those ones. But even that being true, if you know the person you are talking to hasn't seen the Sixth Sense and you spoil it anyway, YTA.

That's the problem with stuff like GoT. It relies on mystery, shock value, and subversion for its appeal. Take those away (such as if you've been spoiled) and the show has much less going for it. This is why Shogun (which has been compared to GoT) is a much better show because it's almost purely character driven. I can watch that show again and again and I would still be mesmerized each time.
