As a fan of both the books and show, you're probably good to go on reading books 2 and 3, and 4 once you've finished Season 4. Probably hold off on reading books 5 and 6 until after you've watched Seasons 5 and 6.

As far as the show and the books go, I'd actually say it's the opposite and the show is more likely to spoil you on the books as opposed to the other way around. Since the show has the advantage of knowing where the story is heading, it adds a lot more connective tissue and teases future characters and storylines must earlier. A pretty big one that you probably picked up on when reading Leviathan Wakes is that the show introduces Avasarala from the very first episode, and yet she was nowhere to be seen in that first book. That being said, once you finish S4 (which you might have by now if this was recorded back in March), you should mostly be in the clear through the first six books. Also as far as characterization goes, I wouldn't worry about either version influencing or spoiling you on the other. The characters, while true to the spirit of each other, are still ultimately different (sometimes very much so) between the mediums. What motivates the book version of a character may not be what what motivates the show version of that same character. For example in Leviathan Wakes, Holden freely gives their Protomolecule sample to Fred, something the show version would never do and they instead had Naomi do it. Book Naomi on the other hand, would probably never have done that. And while it's true that the books have the advantage of inner monologues whereas the show needs to be more subtle, the show counters that by adding depth to more characters than the books do. But again, those motivations are often going to be different between the mediums. Both versions completely stand on their own two feet and I think that's what makes experiencing both versions so exciting. They're great companion pieces to each other without ever cheapening the experience of the other.
