Also interesting to note that one of the reasons to go heavy on the Pendulum flashback is because the final Pendulum ep was #212, which originally ran March 24, 2009, and this episode #279, ran July 13, 2010. I think after over a year of Hueco Mundo, Fake Karakura 1-v-1s, 2 filler arcs (1 of which, The Zanpakutō Arc, is good), and not a Vizard in sight, the Bleach producers might've worried we OG week-to-week viewers might've forgotten who they were. :D :D :D

this is partly what makes him such an interesting character. no deep background of his childhood or a bankai. makes you wonder
