This is a maintenance/improvement release.

With previous versions of the mod, Grounded would work fine, even in multiplayer... except when a VR player was hosting the game and at least another player had joined. In that case only, spurious frames would be generated (especially when the other player was moving around the world) leading to jittery afterimages in the headset and bad performance because of the double renderings.

I apologize for not catching that case in my testing. I had tested multiplayer quite extensively, but must have always been creating the game from the flat side. That was a workaround for previous versions BTW, though of course only accessible if at least one of the co-op players was not using VR.

Anyway, since I was revisiting Grounded, I also took the chance to extend AER v2 to it. The game has good performance, even on not-so-stellar hardware, so AER v2 should give you a very smooth, fluid experience.

Remember that AER v2 only works as intended when your GPU has some room to breathe, so for instance if you are using a 90 Hz headset and you find that the game can't maintain a steady 90 fps with "1/2 rate", either lower the graphics options and/or resolution until you consistently hit the 90 fps frame rate target, or switch to "1/3 rate" which will reconstruct 2 out of every 3 frames, thus lowering the frame rate expectation to 60 fps which is a much easier target to meet.

Have fun, and a wonderful (in the literal sense, "full of wonder") 2023 to all of you chaps and ladies!!!

Not yet, Luke will have to take a look at it and hopefully fix soon. I already let him know. For now, just have to roll back to a previous version if you want to play in VR. https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-downgrade-steam-games/

I am testing out the grounded mod and I wish I could figure out which settings would make it much more smooth. I could only play for 15 mins before getting nauseous. 3080ti and using v9.3.3.

Are you getting around 90 fps while the game is active? It should run fairly well at the base setting run by the config file. You could try switching to Legacy AER in the render options of the Real overlay. How are your VR legs in general, have you played a lot of VR without usually getting motion sickness?

This mod makes it look like its a small square screen in the middle and doesnt stretch to full VR right now.
