Since the official game updates from Rockstar have been breaking VR play, a few of you have been asking how to keep playing flat while we wait for the replacement Script Hook libraries to drop.

You don't need to uninstall anything, much less to reinstall the game(s). With just a couple of simple steps you can easily prevent my mods from attaching and return to your original 2D graphics settings.

In Windows, open the folder where the main game executable is found, and make sure that you can see file extensions so you're not flying blind (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoTah9YBG2Y if you don't know how to do that). Then:

  • for Grand Theft Auto V: rename commandline.txt to commandline_bak.txt, d3d11.dll to d3d11_bak.dll, and dinput8.dll to dinput8_bak.dll
  • for Red Dead Redemption 2: rename dinput8.dll to dinput8_bak.dll and RealVR64.json to RealVR64_bak.json
  • for the Mafia: Definitive Edition Trilogy, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Cyberpunk 2077: just rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll

That is enough to play flat. If you also want to restore the original graphics settings that you were using before you installed the R.E.A.L. VR mod, you can go to the folder where the game stores its setting and manually replace the current settings file with the one RealConfig saved for you:

  • for Grand Theft Auto V go to %UserProfile%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V, then delete settings.xml and rename settings_ori.xml to settings.xml
  • for Red Dead Redemption 2 go to %UserProfile%\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings, then delete system.xml and rename system_ori.xml to system.xml
  • for the Mafia: Definitive Edition Trilogy there's no backup to restore, just select your preferred resolution from the game menus
  • for Horizon: Zero Dawn go to %UserProfile%\Documents\Horizon Zero Dawn\Saved Game\profile, then delete graphicsconfig.ini and rename graphicsconfig_ori.ini to graphicsconfig.ini
  • for Cyberpunk 2077 go to %LocalAppData%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077, then delete UserSettings.json and rename UserSettings_ori.json to UserSettings.json

Hope this helps <3
