The Trilogy is going to end with a bang! (Patreon)

A brief post just to announce that Mafia III: Definitive Edition is looking good, and unless something unexpected comes up, it should be ready for release in a few days.
As I was saying in comments to previous posts, it is a more divisive, love-it-or-hate-it kind of game. The gameplay is probably not very inspired and the mission structure is quite repetitive, but the story is excellent and it really brings you into the world. The map size is huge, comparable with GTA V (see https://youtu.be/mXua-kpctF0?t=222) and the detail is amazing, in terms both of scenery reconstruction and of how alive the city and the bayou feel.
The graphics quality is quite similar to Mafia: DE, and much better than Mafia II: DE. In fact, the remake of the original Mafia was made using a slightly modified version of the original Mafia III engine. That also means that in terms of performance, you can expect frame rates in the same range as Mafia, and not the higher fps that are possible with Mafia II: DE.
The game has surround audio, which sounds incredible in VR. You can distinctly hear where each voice, sound or noise is coming from, and the spatial audio image correctly rotates when you turn your head.
The VR conversion will support first person just like I did for Mafia, both on foot and while driving vehicles (Mafia III has cars, trucks and boats). The quick adjustment technique that I introduced for Mafia II, and backported to Mafia, since release 2.0.0 will allow you to perfectly tune your driving position for each vehicle in a matter of seconds, without using sliders.
And finally, the upcoming release of the mod will have a big surprise for you []-)
It's not motion controls (you already know my position on the matter), but it is something many of you have asked for. Making it work in VR took me quite some time, and I have no doubt that it will generate a veritable flood of new requests for support, but Mafia III really screamed for this new feature, so I decided that it was the right moment to introduce it. It will benefit all other games, past and future, that the mod supports.
(Speaking of other games: if you don't own GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, or the Mafia Trilogy yet, I've just been informed that Humble Bundle has them all on sale at huge discounts!)
Back to testing and tweaking! Thank you for the continuing support, without you guys none of this would be possible <3
