The DLSS update has broken the mod (Patreon)

Jul 13: The DLSS update has landed, and it's as bad as it could be. Scenario 3. Thanks a bunch, Rockstar. Script Hook RDR2 (a fundamental component of all mods) is not even being loaded. They probably blocked it explicitly, because it doesn't die with an error message or write anything to the log: it just doesn't load anymore. So, we must first wait for Alexander Blade to update his Script Hook RDR2. He usually only takes a few days, but this time it's really broken.
As if that wasn't enough, Rockstar also managed to squeeze in for good measure a nasty bug where the Resolution Scale (despite being written correctly to system.xml in the scalingMode entry) is reset to Off every single time you launch the game, even if DLSS is disabled. My mod needs Resolution Scale > 1 to work correctly.
Adding insult to injury, they apparently also made it impossible to downgrade. I just checked with my Rockstar Social Club version: even with "Enable automatic updates" set to off, as soon as you replace the new game files with the old ones the launcher refuses to run RDR2 and says instead "Resume update". So, the backup that I was suggesting earlier turns out to be useless. If any of you finds a way to downgrade the Steam and/or Epic version, please post it in the comments!

Guys, just a little heads-up: the DLSS update for RDR2 is expected to release on July 13th (I don't know precisely at what time).
After the update, there are 3 possible scenarios:
- the mod magically works without any intervention on my part, and the DLSS goodness is bestowed upon the game world (at least for NVIDIA users), and all is well within the kingdom; or
- the mod gets slightly broken by the update, and it takes me a few hours/days to fix it and restore peace; or
- the mod gets horribly broken by the update, and it takes me forever to make it work again.
Scenario 2 is the most likely, but 1 and 3 aren't implausible.
Just in case, I'd advise you to make a personal backup of the entire Red Dead Redemption 2 folder (yes, I know it's huge: about 118 GB), so that you have a higher chance to continue playing without interruptions whatever the outcome of the update is. The same trick has always worked quite well for GTA V updates during the years.
Now, it's true that after the update there will probably be websites and/or YouTube channels that will host the files needed to downgrade, but sometimes it's hard to tell whether those websites are legit. I won't be able to host any such files here due to copyright issues. So, I believe that a personal backup might be the safest solution.
