[Progress Report]: 14th of June (Patreon)
Content
Hey everybody,
Riley's events are now done and that marks the completion of all of the character content updates. Next week I'm going to try add a main story event that covers the aftermath of the first patrol, and then do some bug fixing, proofreading, and get it ready for the release of the beta build. Yep, that means that next Sunday should be the Early Beta Build Release!
With all of that said, and with my promises met, I can finally say that I am completely, utterly exhausted. Guys, guys, I may have went too hard on this update. It's easily one of the largest I've ever done, and definitely the largest of the recent ones. There's going to be at least twelve new events and three animations total. At least. I also went back last night and fixed Valentina's skipping shower animation. Between my real job and this, I've put something like sixty to seventy hours in for the past five weeks and I am going to bed right after this post. I didn't want to whine about it while I was still working on it because I said I would do it and, dammit, I did it!
My rant over, there's some general improvements that you can all look forward to. About halfway into Valentina's new events, all the way at the beginning, I started coding in a different program that has a spellcheck. It took a bit to learn how to transfer everything, the tab command wasn't properly being recognized, but from now on spelling errors should be a thing of the past. I just want to ask my Beta team to keep a weather eye out on words that shouldn't be there. Like, double "the"s that I may have forgotten to take out.
The improvements to the main game that you all will notice, like the lighting and animation quality, I think were implemented well. The animations look smoother, and the characters look better (as you have been seeing from the screenshots). I've also solved the lighting bug that has been occurring with the protagonist's genitalia, which is why it seems to alternate between several different shades.
A critique to the game I've heard is that the H-scenes seem to be a little too short. I'll be looking to fix this in the future, adding better dialogue and making it more of an experience rather than three clicks and then you're finished. When I feel like I've got a good system for it, I'll go back during a general revision and touch up the older scenes. Speaking of which, I recently had my 3rd Tier patrons vote on whether they'd like to see new story content or a revision of the early game work. At the moment, it looks like the new story content is winning.
That's it from me today. Thank you all for your continued support of Superheroes Suck, and please look forward to the future release!
