Review:

Christmas must've came early, because I can't recall when was the last time we had TWO top shelf releases at the SAME WEEK!
Night of Revenge did get released slightly before Kabopuri, but I let my bias take over and cover the latter first.

Now, I'm positive that some of you have already played or seen NoR before.
This is a solo project that was in "Early Access" for over 3 years, and have finally come into full release!

I wouldn't call it ambitious, because it is most certainly as janky as the next H game, but it absolutely stands out with the crazy amount of effort that went into world building, engaging gameplay, and an actual story.

Night of Revenge is a Soulsborne / Souls-like, whichever you're comfortable with.
I mean, one look and the level up menu screen above screams Dark Souls.
There's nothing wrong with it, because I can count on two fingers how many adult games took the concept this far.

🕹️ After a short intro, you're thrown into a forest full of tutorial prompts.
Nothing that we haven't seen before: WASD movement, Double jump, Attack combo string (based on weapon), magic/gun, guard, parry, and dodge.

As always in these cases, the dev tried to emulate the souls "feel" by making the combat a bit stiff, so you'll have to be careful if you're going to commit into a combo, or dodge / parry at the right moment.

However, Intentions aside and reality aside: I found that using the basic weapon air combo is much faster and safer than standing still, with a VERY forgiving attack cancel dodge.
As a result - other weapons felt riskier to use, and not worth the stats investment.

But we can't be too judgmental under the cultured circumstances.
No matter what, gameplay is secondary in a game about killing horny demons that kidnap and breed helpless stacked waifus.

💕 Being an ACT game, NoR uses the standard formula of:
1. Get hit.
2. Get stripped.
3. Get knocked out.
4. Get knocked up.

You already know the drill...
I don't mind it so much, but what I do mind is when the dev forgets how counter-intuitive it is to burn progress for adult content, and not unlock the whole gallery once we beat the game. (Might still get updated)
So in the meantime, make sure to get assaulted by pretty much everything.

All enemies and bosses have their own interactive animations with our heroine.
Not all are lewd, but most are.
On top of it there are even more detailed animated CG (Live2D style) for game over screens for getting defeated at specific parts of the game.

Just Imagine you're Ash Ketchup, but instead you gotta clap 'em all.

Although you could already see for yourself from the screenshots I provided, I'll emphasize that the artwork quality is absolutely beautiful, daresay above average+ compared to most non-pixel action games. Totally a gallery worth coming back for.

In terms of length, NoR can take on first playthrough as long as over 15 hours if you search every nook and cranny.
There are plenty of secrets and different paths to explore. Most (if not all) enemies can be ignored, but it is advised to take out the trash every now and then for a bit of leveling up and other valuable materials.

Don't worry about difficulty if you're not very keen on these type of games.
You can select between 4 game modes, with easy being real easy.
I found "Normal" to be already quite forgiving, so I advise to at least start from it, and if you're still struggling then lower it from the menu.

I did enjoy the new scenery change every-so-often, along with new enemies and even special lewd cut-scenes that you can only experience while exploring.

Although I quickly found my own style of ""speedrun"" gameplay, the game does offer a lot of unique customization to diversify your playstyle: Different weapons with their own movests, unique accessories with special effects, and also magic and guns that consume MP.

Overall, and all things considered - Night of Revenge can absolutely be considered an adult game masterpiece.
I'm not even the one to decide it. That was already concluded by the 31,000 units sold, making it nearly half a million dollars in revenue WITHIN A WEEK!

Calling it a success would be an understatement.
A must-play, 5 stars, two thumbs, "it has a little something for everyone", etc etc...
