Koguma Project (Circle)

If there's one thing I must point out about Japanese H devs, is that 99.9% of them never heard about marketing.

I've lost count at how many times I found out about a new interesting release through the sideway dark alleyways of the internet.

(Then again, I suppose that's part of the reason why this blog exists to begin with..)

So, Koguma Project, also known now as Koguma Planning.
Yet another mysterious studio that delivers very high quality pixel projects with unique gameplay.

This post was originally supposed to cover only their second game - "Bunny Hole", but I figured it has been forever since I reviewed their first title "yukiya hot spring ~The Waters of Fertility~", so I may as well lump it all together so you can check out both projects instead.

When I first laid my eyes on Bunny Hole, I immediately recognized the smooth, detailed, and clean pixel art from Yukiya.
To my pleasant surprise that was indeed the case, and what made me even happier was seeing a greater focus at the larger CG artworks that I wished we had at our cute hot spring game.

Before I go on about the gameplay, it's important to note that just like in the first project - it's entirely optional!
The gallery is unlocked from the instant you boot the game, and even during gameplay, you can simply hit the "H" button to cheat for quick progress.

With that being said, it's quite a fun little experience, and you'll be missing out if you don't check it out:

🕹️ In Bunny Hole you run a bunny brothel that serves bunny customers (and a dog).
The gameplay runs in cycled pattern:
- Use the serviceman to go to one of the girls and interact with them.
- Use the girl to woo a customer
- Take the customer to the couch to provide service
- Regain control of the serviceman and beat up wolfs (bad guys - grab a heart and touch them), control another girl, clean one of the girls, or call for "reinforcements". (more girls)

The controls for all characters are basic movement and infinite jumps with cool downs between them.

There are 3 stages in total. Your goal in each one is to reach a gold threshold to advance to the next stage.
Earn more money by collecting coins and servicing customers based on their preferences - The intro tutorial gives you more information about each customer fetish.

Whenever a new customer is getting serviced, a CG splash art of the act with the specific girl you picked for the job will appear at the center of the stage, along with a beautiful animation of the service at the couch you brought the customer to.

You'll find hearts scattering around each stage. Use them to either beat up the bad guys with the serviceman, or "improve" the service each girl provides, up to level 3. (indicated by the amount of "X" above their heads)

The final stage is endless, and basically rewards you with the option to call all the available girls to enjoy their animated and CG services once you've earned enough gold.

That's about as far as the gameplay goes.
Pretty simple, fun, doesn't take much of your time, and a personal favorite way of mine in H game design: you're given everything, but also the added value of playing with the wrapping to "earn" the goods.

Truly the best of both worlds.

💕 At the main menu you can select the "VIP Room" - another word for gallery.
Pick a customer to become the girls plaything, and continue to select a girl to perform an act on him.
You can cycle between each act for each girl very quickly and neatly, while enjoying both the animation and the CG at the dead center of the screen.

I have nothing else to say about the gallery besides how amazing the pixel art is.
Having my share of history with games in the scene, this one gets two BIG thumbs up from me! 👍👍

Koguma Project has blessed us with two stunning pixel art projects, each special in their own way - which shows it's a studio with character.

These people aren't just pumping titles for a quick cash grab.
With such detailed work and real effort to deliver a unique experience, I can only look forward with excitement to their next project!
