Sukebe Blocks By SUKEBE NINJIN
SEKI By Castileman

[Summary]

Two Action Pixel projects with different gameplay but the very same intent.

Reviews:

Lately I've been reviewing a lot of Western title, which I honestly don't mind as long as I get to play some top quality stuff. But today I felt that I gotta get back to the roots for a change and dig up some good 'ol spicy pixel action, which sadly the west isn't there yet.

Seeing as how I'm a bit late than my usual post "schedule" (there isn't one, but I try!), I felt it'll only be fair to cover two short and sweet games for you.

We'll start with Sukebe Blocks:

Honestly, this one takes me back.
As soon as I saw the retro strip gameplay with old-school mechanics, I immediately thought about all those old H pixel games I used to come across during my teen years.

They were scarce, and usually it was the friend's neighbor that managed to get his hands on one, as we all play it in the dark with a finger on standby at the PC reset button in case mommy Karen pops in.

Those were the times...
But yeah, Sukebe blocks does a splendid job being exactly that "short-and-sweet" blocks breaker strip game. It only goes as far as unclothing each girl, which you can further play barbie with when you clear their stages by choosing whichever pieces you want on / off.

The difficulty here only comes from the ball being drunk 100% of the time, just moving in a random direction as soon as it hits anything. I kinda like that to be honest, given how easy these types of games are already.

The pixel art is great, and when you're done there isn't really much left to do other than mess around. But if I may be honest, as short as it is, there just aren't enough of these games out there, and for that alone I'm very happy to recommend it.

Here's hoping the devs will deliver more similar projects in the future. (better not be copy paste..)

Sukebe Blocks is available on Steam.

Our second game will be SEKI:

SEKI is probably what Eroico played like when Kyrieru Beta tested it.
I mean.. it has all the right ingredients to be a very decent action platformer, if only the devs went that extra mile with more interesting level design and more mechanics to spice it up a little.

SEKI isn't necessarily a bad game. It's more than functional, and going through it is entertaining for what it is. I also hope the H scenes will get an update or two, because there are currently a bunch of enemies that don't have any.

Even though it's an OK title, DLsite sales numbers speak for themselves, as people are STARVING for pixel projects - let alone a pixel platformer with H content!
Is there even a person who looks for gameplay as well that dislikes any of these type of games? They just have this charm, but sadly I can count on zero to one finger how many of these come out every couple of months.

If you ever come across SEKI, give it a whirl. It's worth the short playthrough for the now-scarce H action entertainment value.

SEKI is available on DLsite.

I'm always on the lookout for sweet new pixel projects. Even without being stellar, they'll always hold a soft spot in my heart.
