Val bonus comic... (Patreon)

This is part of a fun, three part bonus comic for the end of THE NOVICE story arc.  I came up with it this past weekend and decided to knock it out while it was still fresh in my mind.  I know I have more important stuff to work on, but I swear, it didn't take too much time.

Val has certainly come a long way as a character.  I've dedicated a lot of writing time to her and she has been a tough nut to crack, but her overall character has become pretty clear in my mind in the past few weeks.  It's been very exciting for me.  Sounds silly, but I've got a lot of time and effort invested in her.

She finally told me what her job is.  I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.  I was having a conversation with her in my head and she told me.  She's usually really quiet, so it was a nice surprise (I swear I'm not crazy).

Once I figure out a characters interests and occupation, everything else sort of falls into place.  But the character literally has to tell me.  I've got Sam figured out pretty good, and since her and Val are a couple I've been getting most of my information about Val from her.  Of course, Val is a lot more complicated than Sam realizes...and Sam is more of a joker than I thought.  Sam has lied to me about Val many times now, but Val has finally started talking to me directly.  I think Val finally trusts me.
