Something amazing happened…my depression went away!  I mean depression gone!  Gone gone!  I didn’t know that was possible but it’s been a solid week and I’ve been getting full nights of sleep and everything for the first time in years!

So what happened?  Well, time for some back story!

I used to be a professional magician.  Yup, I did card tricks for a living, among other things.  I did it for a long time and I was pretty good at it.  When covid hit, that all went away.  No shows, no events, nothing.  It was really devastating and comics absolutely saved me.  You guys saved me, and I cannot tell you how grateful I am (big hugs)!

Things have since stabilized enough that if I wanted, I could go back to performing again.  That was always part of the plan and I’ve dedicated a lot of time and brain power to keeping my skills up.

Then last week the opportunity to do a run of shows came up and I turned it down.  I didn’t even hesitate.  I realized I don’t want to be a performer anymore.  It was fun while it lasted, but it was also a lot of work and pressure that frankly, I’m glad to be done with.

And just like that, depression gone.  I didn’t realize I’d been burning the candle at both ends for so long and dedicating so much time and energy to something that I just wasn’t interested in anymore.

My years as a performer were amazing and I’ll never forget the incredible people I got to meet and work with, but I’m an artist now…and I want to draw BLACK LABEL!

This is it guys!  No more pussy footing around and no more whining.  This is the year I go full time as an artist.  Yeah, it’s kinda scary, but I feel happier and more alive than I have in years!

So, this past week I put away the things that needed to be put away.  I also officially hired my friend Mel to be my business manager.  She’s been doing comics professionally for years and she’s got the business end down to a science, so I won’t have to worry about any of that.  I can focus on drawing and writing and sharing the work with all of you.

I will not be charging anyone for the month of February and I won’t be making any posts.  Instead, I will be finishing up the campaign for Vol. 1 and drawing comics.  Lots of comics!  Come March, everything will be reactivated, I’ll be a month ahead of schedule, and you’ll all be able to look forward to more comics on a regular basis.

Thank you all so much for getting me here!  For your support, your patience and your comments!

Now, let’s get to work! :D
