Today’s the day that Tumblr died.

Okay, not really, but I’m sure it’s suffering a severe hit to its numbers. In protest, I will not be logging in today. I’ll check in later this week to see how the place is holding up.  With the direction the internet seems to be going, I suspect that a personal website will be the final answer.  This will require some research...

Had a busy weekend of work that left little time for drawing, but I got a few half finished things lined up for completion (including the next page of BLACK LABEL!), so expect some art this week!

Is there any way to see how much traffic Tumblr has been getting over the last month? I want to see how it has changed.

I’ve seen a couple charts and tables that all look pretty devastating but couldn’t find and concrete sources on them. I’m sure there’s a way to figure it out though. There’s gotta be a site/app for that.

I saw a video this past weekend on Tumblr that took the footage from "Titanic" of the water pouring in and everyone scrambling for the lifeboats, with various names superimposed on people, like "Porn Blogs," "SFW Blogs," "Cooking Blogs that got tagged as NSFW by mistake," "just joined Tumblr a month ago," etc., and on the captain and the chief engineer, "Verizon" and "Yahoo" (or whatever companies own Tumblr...I can't remember). It was brilliant and a sad commentary on the whole thing.

Still seems to be a lot of NSFW content on tumblr, I guess their algorithm isn't as good as they thought :)

What I saw was that (1) I could not see anything from a nsfw blog unless I explicitly followed it, (2) If I clicked on a NSFW blog I had to (every time) say I understood that there might be sensitive content, and (3) posts only appeared on the sidebar. I will be shutting down my Tumblr blog very soon.

Yeah, it’s become frustrating enough that I think I’ll close mine as well. Was gonna just post SFW updates but I can’t even clean up my page. Ah well.
