I wanted to take minute to thank everyone who participated in the Fan Art Freebie event yesterday.  I know it wasn't planned this way, but it was a really good exercise.  To go from a standard comic character with a hairstyle that I hadn't attempted before to an OC I'd never seen with references that spanned a wide range of art styles and an even more unusual hairstyle, followed by two specific animated incarnations  of classic villains, each more stylized than the last, and then capping it off with a hyperrealistic video game version of another video game character really gave me a chance to stretch.  It helped shake off the cobwebs and has me more motivated to get back into the action.  This week I want to get moving on Julie Takes Wing again, and work up some samples  to  refresh the commissions menu and get that rolling again (with first picks given to those who I cancelled on last year).  I've been talking with my wife to carve out a more regular drawing schedule.  I can't promise there won't be more disruption, especially in August, December, and January--that day job ain't going anywhere (I hope!) but hopefully I'm back in the saddle for awhile.

Thanks to everyone for their continued interest in my work.  We had a noticeable dip in membership in the spring due in part I suspect to the pandemic, but somehow we've recovered a lot of what we lost in the meantime in spite of my irregular activity.

So thank you.  Your contributions and support keep me coming back to the drawing board, and also keep a roof over our heads, and means so very much to both of us.

We will definitely look at doing a Fan Art Freebie day again.

Best wishes to you all,

SAS
