Hello, everyone.  Sorry it got quiet again—the holiday “break” was a little chaotic.  Mrs. Battle Duck and I both got sick right after shoveling out from a big storm we had a week befor Christmas.  It never got really bad, but it never went away either, and after lots of back and forth with my folks we ultimately cancelled Christmas. once the holiday weekend was over we both checked in with our doctors. I couldn’t get in to see mine but I was sent for a test which thankfully came back negative. My wife saw a doctor and was determined to have a sinus infection.  So in the end things turned out OK but with all the disruption and uncertainty it was a little hard to focus on my projects so the end of year celebration I had planned did not materialize. :(

Still, things happen and a new year has come.  I think by now most of us realize the nightmare that was 2020 is not going to magically end.  There are signs that things could get better eventually but we have a loooong way to go.  Best we can hope for now is that we won’t be looking back at 2021 a year from now and saying, “and we thought 2020 was bad.”

For me personally, I’m just going to forge ahead best I can.  one of my goals this year is to significantly reduce my time online and on social media—which does not do my any good—and spend that time reading and drawing.  So we’ll see.

This month is going to be... odd.  To reduce the threat of COVID during our next busy season which starts Monday, we are changing the schedule to 6 shorter days a week so,we can splot the staff up into two shifts.  That will help us with social distancing and also keep the whole staff from being compromised for two weeks if one of us gets sick.  There should also be less overtime.  So unlike most January’s, this one should not result in me disappearing for the month.

Anyway, thanks for hanging i there with me and your continued support through challenging times.  I hope you and your have remained safe and secure, and wish you a Happy New Year.

More to come,

SAS
