Gonna be on vacation so posts here will be limited for the rest of the month.  Hopefully there'll be a bit of an art dump when I get back.

As a parting gift, here's another look at my take on the DCAU version of Supergirl that I used in the recent "Supermoon" sequence.  I never could quite buy into the "Rrriot Grrrl" aesthetic, though there's no denying there's a strange appeal to this unconventional costume.  Since Kara Zor-El's first experience with earth was Kansas in the DCAU, I tweaked the costume to give it a more midwestern feel.  The chunky grunge boots are replaced with something a little more western in shape, and I threw in a belt for good measure. For this drawing I also added some denim detail to that blue miniskirt.  I kinda like this revised design and wanted to do a pic of Just kara being Kara without the Lunar Kryptonite drama.  It also gave me a chance to try a more muted coloring technique,  What do you think of this costume--both the original and this tweaked version?

Truthfully I've never really liked this version of her costume. It felt like too much of a departure from the original and too "Earthy" for an alien like Kara. But you've done a great take on it and made it pretty stylish.

I think this costume was perfect for the 1990s Peter David revamp and I'm glad it carried over into the DCAU. Nice work with this!

Thanks! Though I was always under the impression that the costume was introduced into the Peter David series to draw a connection between the cartoon version and the comic version, which was struggling in sales.
