Dear heroes,

Greetings from the Red Land, where - in the words of some rum folks the red kroovy flows like wine because it is the wine. As a location, it provides quite a contrast to the UVG locations. Where those are empty and rather desolate, this one is spurting with life and ... uh ... sparkly vampires.

I'm styling each of the locations as though it was written by a local tourism bureau, with all the unreliability that entails. However, since the landscape art is a big part of this section of the book, I get to really dig into those ye olde travel posters.

Look at that pretty piece.

The Red End illustration, depicting the city and the valley, was also quite unusual for me. It was the first time I did a whole piece using three-point perspective. It worked out quite nicely, but dang was it a lot of work, haha. I've attached a time-lapse of how I made it.

I'll probably complement these vivid color pieces with some simple pen-and-ink pieces for the other sections, creating a bit more contrast between pages.

I've really missed writing up and illustrating locations and characters and strange cultures, and I'm really enjoying getting back to that. Next: the Back Country and the District.

I hope you're enjoying this excerpt format, instead of me posting the whole book every time!

And if there's something you'd really like to see in the next update, or one of the other Rainbowlands, hey, let me know ... maybe I can work it in somehow. :)

Wishing you all plenty of joyous summer gaming,

—Luka

PS - I'll be away from the 14th to the 22nd, so there's a good chance the next update will be late.

PPS - I have it on reasonable authority that UVG 2E is almost definitely hitting the EF stores this month. The notification link is still here: https://www.exaltedfuneral.com/products/uvg-2e

PPPS - This week's discord link: https://discord.gg/nNMwdqWv ... hop on in.

Is it Procreate you used to draw it; using its perspective guide feature?

I often feel compelled to use your images as my desktop background, updating them each time you have another groovy color image.

Thank you! I really need to compile the wallpapers and put them up as an item in the shop-vault-thingy patreon now allows.
