Deeper
We're going deeper into Muc-Mhara, everyone. With this fourth release, we enter the bottom half of the Trench of the Lost. There are spooky rifts into the unbessed waters below, and stranger creatures than we've seen so far. We've got some killer collabs for you today as well. Let's dive in!
Borough Guide
This document rounds out the Trench of the Lost portion of Muc-Mhara. Some folks do make camp out here, but for the most part, this is dangerous territory. The abyssal fae are dangerous foes, and they'll terrorize anyone who approaches. More importantly: this is your gateway to greater depths. If you want to explore the hadal rifts and discover the water titan Fiaclan, you'll have to descend deep into the chasms.
Of particular interest in this borough guide is the list of super special treasure one can find in the Trench. Each of these 11 pieces of legendary loot could be the impetus for an entire campaign, so please go wild!
Maps
Note that this map slots directly west from Muc-Mhara 03.
This map is the start of where the city starts getting real weird. Spooky abyssal magics give the dangerous cliffs a bizarre aura. There's more treasure to sift through, and far more treacherous paths connecting them. If you want to dive below, you have plenty of options. The tunnels lead deep.
Speaking of which, Chief Courier tier patrons get access to a wide range of deep-sea tunnels for this map! We figured we'd sort of mix and match them so that you can design your own ideal deep-sea adventures. Go nuts!
We're particularly pleased with the variants this week. Whether you're running an alternate desert or pirate town Muc-Mhara, you're going to be quite pleased as well!
Music
I don't know about you, but I shudder whenever I think about those 2 paragraphs in the Player's Handbook that describe underwater combat. Nevertheless, it's almost inevitable that you'll have to confront some underwater foes when exploring Muc-Mhara. If you choose to duke it out with a creepy boss monster beneath the city, you can put on our underwater combat track "Fiaclan." Alternatively, if you just want spooky vibes while the party explores the rifts, you can put on the ambient variant.
Plus, hey! Bonus track! "Hadal" is a chill-as-hell jazzy tune perfect for more relaxed adventures into the chasmic hollows below.
Sand Golem | Collaboration with Paper Forge
Yet again, we couldn't just not show you our weird deep-sea creatures. Our buddies over at Paper Forge made us this bad-ass sand golem that you can use to terrorize your players. Alternatively, there's a little plot hook that suggests the party could team up with this well-camouflaged construct. Whether you need VTT tokens or want to print out some paper minis, this guy is ready for action.
As always, Paper Forge has an unrivaled library of minis for your to use in your sessions. If you need miniatures or VTT tokens, you must subscribe to their Patreon.
Vitrog's Venerated Volatile Vivarium | Collaboration with Rudok's Tavern
Muc-Mhara is all about sunken treasure, so we'd be remiss if we didn't get the opportunity to feature some incredible 5e item makers. This week, we've got an incredibly legendary item for your players. Vitrog's Venerated Volatile Vivarium is a bizarre trinket to add to your arsenal: a minituarized bottled ecosystem that you can wield to devastating effect. Rudok's Tavern made this item specifically for Muc-Mhara, and we think it couldn't fit better.
If you need clever and beautiful homebrewed DnD items, you need to check out Rudok's Tavern. They release incredible items for you to plop into your world every day. Check them out on Patreon!
